Not to be a buzz kill, but no trans filter change? making the assumption that lancers have them. Would be kinda like changing oil and not the filter? Just saying.

Hey guys, I"m pretty new to this, i've read in some forums outside of this that you have to take off the cover should i take off the cover and clean it out?

they do have filters but it is not the easy to get to the filter, and when checking the a/t fluid make sure the car is in 1-correct temp 2-the engine running,and car has to be on neutral(N) when checking dipstick,and of course a flat surface..

I am currently rebuilding my trans. If you remove the bell housing you will see it. Ohh yah remove trans then bell housing.

So if you say 5 or 7 quarts but the write up says 3 quarts then re drain and add 5 quarts ? Is my math off or .....

Just for some extra info -
You do NOT need to change the filter. ever.
It is not like an oil filter. Oil filters are necessary to catch all the garbage brought into the oil including the residual muck from combustion in the cylinders.

Instead, the transmission is a closed system. The filter is a metal screen that catches large debris like remnant from the casting.
If this metal screen were to ever become plugged up, then there would be far worst issues in the transmission that would require attention rather than just a simple 'filter' change.
