I have my V1 below the mirror.. the most important thing it that it's in my field of view without moving my head. it's also harder for a cop to see you have one if it's next to the mirror.

and trying to detect laser is pointless, he's already got you once your detector goes off 90% of the time. jamming is the only real solution

Unfortunately, decent jammers are pretty expensive.

And illegal in quite a few states.

Regarding which bands to watch for:
While driving through Seattle, I noticed quite a few cops out there still using K (this was 2 years ago), but in Utah, cops are only using KA and Laser. The only way you will know for sure which bands to watch for is experience. Take note of which bands the police in your area are using when you pass them.

its not that they dont work well on the dash,
i just wanted to get the cable from hanging down the dashboard and infront of my hu to get to the plug.
so i re wired it all.

and to be totally honest,
i havent got a speeding ticket once since.

More luck than anything IMO. I've gotten two tickets in the past year. One officer got me with laser, the other was sitting in the dark, off the shoulder, on an unlit highway with is radar turned off. As soon as he saw me close in on him, he flipped his radar on, my detector went off, but it was too late, he had already gotten me.

Its a whistler.

and its not a friggen jammer,
its a detector,
going fast and not getting tickets isnt luck,
its called being smart...
if you see an unlit highway... dont do 80+
thats asking for trouble.
ive done stupid crap too,
but its simple...

not sure if this has been said but an old friend of mine bought a laser/radar kit that was mounted behind the grill of his g35 and mounted above the rear licsense plate. it was hard to notice b/c it was just a little black strip that was hidden pretty well. i think he paid 500 total for the kit and installation, that might be a little steap for you but it all depends on how much you get pulled over for speeding lol.
