Need Help!!!
I am assistaing another member on here with an install of a new Alpine IVA-D310 indash unit, now in my past experience to bypass a tv unit one would simply afix a toggle switch. The issue we have run into is this unit has 2 wires #1- an ebrake connection, #2 - foot brake connection. Now I really don't feel like running an extended wire all the way to the brake connection and splice or piggy the connection only to have Phil repeat a retarded tap and pull series of events to get the video to play. Is there any recommendations for this to bypass the safety feature esily?? I'm looking under the center consloe area so the wiring can be kept hiden and clean.

And before anyone rants, yes I am aware of the safety feature and why it is there, yes we are aware of the dangers.... but right now this is strictly for car shows or events.... so I don't need the flaming. Help is more than appreciated.

oh and yes I have googled it, nothing was specific enough for this vehicle.

 

IIRC, you should be able to just ground the wires.

 

i thought about that, unfortunatley 1 wire is a positive +12V and requires a pulse signal (hense the brake pedal) and the other is a (-12V) for the ebrake, i've just grounded that one, man I hate these new safety features, I mean I know why they are there, there has to be away around them, as stereo shops can bypass displays.

 

From the looks of the diagram in the manual, they both connect between the brake light signal and the bulbs the signal would light. Based on that, I think they're both looking for +12v, just that the e-brake must be continuous, and the foot brake should be on, then off.

If you have them laying around, try a toggle switch for the e-brake wire, and a momentary contact switch for the foot brake.

 

i do have a constant i can use that lights up the cigarette light, I have my lights on all the time anyways, and then maybe a toggle to teh brake switch? that may work,

 

Could do with two toggles. Flip on the foot toggle, then the e-brake toggle. Flip off the e-brake, then flip back on while flipping off the foot toggle. Should work then.

 

In the past... I've used a push button switch (like a valet switch from an alarm) to replicate the foot brake and a toggle on/off switch to replicate the e-brake.

OR

You could just buy a PAC TR-7 module and it'll do it all for you.
