In defence to Accolade right on there site it says that the kits are for off road use only and not inteneded for street use. This is why most people go with hood pins. I feel really bad that it happened but Accolade is not liable in this situation at all

Holy crap, that sucks!
My hood flew up on me once, and it scared the crap out of my g/f too. She was eating a donut in the car when it happened and she threw it up in the air and it landed in her hair. lol
If I were you, I would contact the hood manufacturer and inform them of what happened. It is likely that they would replace the hood for you it if it was defective.

Hrmm, interesting, any aftermarket hood(CF or fiberglass) should have hood pins, you cannot count on a non factory hood latch to serve as good as a purpose as your factory hood latch on your factory hood. I am sorry, but I dont even think Accolade even provides hood latches to use for their hoods(I may be wrong but as far as I know, they send hood - nothing else). Spend 10 bucks or less on pins rather than 200-300 on a new hood, god forbid something like this happens again to anyone else.

i have the same kit. yes it does need hood pins. i noticed that driving 90mph+ the hood starts to flex. i installd sparco hood pins and no worries now. any fiberglass/carbon fiber hood should have hood pins installed for saftey.
