manual steering conversion

Does any one know of a company that sells manual rack and pinion assembly for the lancer. I have removed my power steering pump and lines. I ran a line from the inlet side to the outlet so fluid is still on both sides keeping the seals alive but I would feel better with a true manual rack. Plus when I went to get it inspected I made the mistake of taking it to the dealer and they failed it. Utah inspection says that if equiped, the power steering system must be operational. So with a true manual it would no longer be "equiped". Thanks in advanced.

If you dont mind me asking... Why did you remove power steering?
Im a Shifter Kart/Formula Dodge Driver so I understand about the pleasure of having rack & pinion w/o power steering, but otherwise, it seems like it could turn to being a real pain in the ***, no?

I removed it to lower the parcitic loss of horsepower on the motor. AKA 1-2 extra horses. I have aso removed my A/C system from the firewall forward.

This accualy my daily driver. A little noisey, I removed all interior except driver/passenger seats, head liner/ and A piller covers. With the custom exhaust I wear ear plugs . But I am going to race it this year at Salt Lake City.

are you n/a or f/i? be sure to report back track times.

back on topic, you won't find a direct kit and it's going to cost well over $1,000 to make the conversion, i say leave it, get polyurethane motor mounts, see what you can do to stiffen your suspension as much as possible, this is most important.

if your really interested in saving weight check out odyssey battery, they have some 13lbers.

I'm still n/a i'm thinking of just upping my compression ratio to 10.5:1
As far as stiffining my suspension I ordered a DC sport strut brace from 2KRacing but it's on back order. From the looks of it i'll just leave the rack as is.

I custom "made" a manual rack. I created a u-pipe fom the pressure side to the return side on the rack eliminating the pump, resvoir, and lines. Then filled the rack up with power steering fluid to keep the seals alive. It works great. A little more difficult when not moving but once the tires start rolling there is no difference.
