Arrow Lancer Auto into 5spd

You guys have probably heard this everyday. But I found a tranni with low miles and very cheap. Complete. But will it bolt straight up into the Auto Lancer. I have an ES and the tranni is from an OZ.

Got a friend that can do this for almost free. Just a 6 pack to go with it lol. SO Labor is no problem. I'm just getting bored of an Auto lol.

P.S. Any comments/opinions and welcomed. I just want to know what you guys think. Thanks all!

This question does come up a lot but I don't remember ever seeing a good answer because I'm interested in this as well. I believe it does, you just need the ECU, transmission, clutch pedal, shifter, and the center console piece from a manual to fit the shifter. i think i remember someone saying it does swap out, just might cost a bit, which doesn't seem to be a problem for you. I'd say go for it so I can see how it turns out.

yeah i was just looking it up and it would probably be easier and cheaper to just trade your car in for a manual lancer. I would still like to have it done though. I may go to a tranny shop next to where I work and ask them if they have ever done it. I am sure they would know what all has to be done.

Wow. I searched this and nobody has done it so far. I'm looking into the trani. Pedal, shifter and center console shouldnt be too much. The main $$ will go into the trani its self but mainly into labor. lol my friend has 30 years of experince and said that could do it for about $200 tops! I love him now! haha.

Can anything go bad?

lol thats cool about the labor part. Yeah if you found a wrecked lancer and the tranny is good, you could easily grab the interior piece and pedal. I don't know about trading it in being cheaper. I have a 2004 oz and its already down to about $7000 trade in value. I'd at least have to pay maybe $2000 more for the used lancer. Plus I already have intake muffler, pulley, rims, neons, strut bars all around, head unit. That would be way too much stuff to either take off let go in a trade in. It would probably come out even if not more expensive to trade. plus you don't know what could be wrong with the used lancer

also, after doing a swap, would it feel like a factory manual car, or would it feel different? cause i think you'd have to remove that left foot pad thing next to the brake to fit the pedal.

It would be way cheaper, easier, and probably better in terms of reliability to just trade your car in for a manual car, lancer or otherwise. You would need the ECU, the transmission, clutch assembly, pedals (all 3 not just the clutch), all linkages, interior panels and I'm sure there's stuff none of us have thought about.

That was my other question. What all will you need. So far:

Trani
ECU
Clutch Assembly
All 3 Pedals
Linkages
Interior panel & Center Console.

You might be right on trading it in, but I have too much exterior work done to it. Maybe worth more than $2k without the paint.

How will you make all 3 pedals work? Doesn't the brake and gas stay in one place. So you will have to do something to move them thru the firewall too. It does sound too complicated. I'll talk to my bud and see if he doesn't mind doing all that. I give him everyt part, but he just has to make them work. It will be way too much work.

yeah, if you have a lot of work done to your car, I would say thats the only reason to not trade it in. If its stock, or just has minor bolt-ons that you can easily remove, just trade it.

well if you wanted a manual, you should get that done first, that way you dont have to mess with any mods you already got. I say go for it. You'll be the first I guess. Many people want to know how well this will work but don't have the money to test it. It might turn out to be really easy and you will be awesome.

In most cars all you need is what was mentioned as far as I know. The hard part is getting the knew holes into the firewall and the pedals lined up I think. Of course swapping out the ecu could be a job. Depending on if the car was auto or manual th mounting points and undercarraige could be different!?!?! I have an auto and hate it. I only got it cause there were no manuals on the lot. I would love to switch. But that would only happen in 4 years when the car is paid off. haha

The big question you have to ask yourself is this, how much are you willing to spend to get a manual lancer? If I were you I'd look at how much it would cost (I'm guessing a good 3000$ or more at least) to change an auto to a manual, compare it to how much with trade in you'd have to pay out of your pocket to buy a new or used manual lancer and then make your decision. The big problem I can see you encountering is the unknown, no one has done this and a general rule it is never cheap to be a trail blazer. The first guy to put a 4G63 into his lancer spent about 10000$ to do it and was without his car for 6 months.

I'll add up and see how much it will cost and see how it can help me at the end
