Thank god there's still a regular-old manual version; CVT looks nice, but I can't live without my clutch!

Not so true what u do is get two dealerships to fight over the price. For example i live in indy and have went to two dealerships and test drove a car from both one wanted sticker plus and the othere i have printed off the invoice price and showed them what i am willing to pay. Then u tell them that the 1st dealership wanted sticker for the car and the 2nd dealership will most defently want ur biz more then ever.HEHE iT ALSO HELPS TO GET A CARD FROM 1ST DEALER SALESMAN AND FLASH IT TO 2ND DEALER so there is no question on wethere u went there or not. I HATE CARS SALESMEN.

I did just that...

I put one dealer against the other when it came time to buy. The end result ws that one dealer said he would only go $500 below MSRP if I waited to buy from him (He didn't have the GTS with Sun & Sound in yet, and didn't know when he'd get one.), and the other dealer would not drop the price below MSRP, period. The one who wouldn't drop the price knew that he was the only dealer that had the car I wanted in a 5-state region..he also knew that if I didn't buy it at that price, then someone else would, so I did.

Of course, I recommend trying to put one dealer against the other, and try to get the best price, after all it is business and different dealerships will make different decisions. However, the demand for these cars is high, and the supply is low right now; so I seriously doubt that they will lower the price, and if they do it likely won't be by much...

Dam thats sucks but ur kinda wright, patience is not one of my better traits. But I will wait for more cars to come in. My dealer is getting 7-14 lancers(8gts)cars in april so there is no rush to buy the 1st one that hits the lot for a mark-up.

Talked to my dealer today he said should be ant day now. New rebates come out on 4/3 so would be wise to wait till then. Hope he gets 2-3 in at once so i can see the red and blue before i pic the one i want. Will not be CVT tho i am sticking with the manual.

today i went over to stevencreek mitsubishi, where i got my lancer es 2 years ago.
They had the entire lot full of new 08 lancers, and at least 15 GTS. They had black, blue, champagne, red, silver, grey, and white for GTS. I got to test drive a GTS that had 4 miles on the odometer. I took it down an expressway and took a few fairly hard turns and a quikc u-turn. I played with the paddle shift and found that, true it was responsive, but not as fun as i thought, and i was tired of it soon after 2 stop lights. The acceleration felt almost the same as my 04 lancer, which supposedly had less power. Maybe it was because i live in California, everything was more restrictive than they supposed to. The one i test drove came with a navigation system, and the whole interior was very nice, a major upgrade from the 04 version. The exterior was agressive and looked almost exactly like the concept evo 10 spy pics released a while ago. The rear looked pretty tite, iff only the tail lights were entirely red -_-"

after a bunch of talkie talkies with the dealer, they wanted $20k+tax for the grey gts... they rushed us like crazy trying to make us buy on the spot, took us quite some effort to leave the dealership -_-"

oh btw, i also test drove the new galant ralliart lol... that beast had nav system, eletric adjusted seats, butt warmer, and all leather interior accented with fake carbon fiber trim. THAT THING WAS QUICK! dealer said it had 258 horses or something, i floored an automatic down the expressway and MAN WAS IT FUN!

^ I also noticed at my dealer today. It looked nice, didnt bother to test drive tho. Anyways, I found the CVT quite interesting, however, I've decided if Im ever gonna buy this car, I'd rather stick with manual. Same goes for the 997 Turbo I'm gonna be getting. Most of my friends say the Tiptronic is actually faster than the conventional stick, but I'm sticking with the analog.

I did have one dealership willing to drop $500 off the initial MSRP (I've bought 3 new cars from them in the last 5 years), but they didn't have a GTS WITH Sun and Sound and I wasn't to go wait and find out if more were coming in in the next 2-3 months.

$16,990 for the Base '08 Lancer (which is still fairly nice)
Base GTS or ES/DE? My dealer has one (ES) on the lot for $13,500. The GTS with Sun and Sound is $18,200.
