I kind of like that same power being offered in all trims, cause if you couldn't for whatever reason, afford the GTS, you still could have the power of it (without all the "aero styling" if someone didnt want all that). Me, personally. id try and get the GTS with all of the stuff on it, ive learned in the past , getting the cheaper lancer is not cool - cause u spend more money buyign aftermarket/factory parts that are standard on the sportier/more expensive trims

For the sake of discussion: lots of people that bought the OZ replaced the body kit, swaybar and rims anyhow. So it's not always that the higher trim is something you'll keep.

So can you tell us some more about CVT?

-Does it let you get to as high in the rev band as it can go or is it limited?
-Does it change up a gear if you've been redlining too long?
-Does it rev match the throttle on downshifting?

Some people have mentioned this isn't the same transmission that will be offered with the Evo X (which is what I'm interested in). If that's the case, how does CVT differ from what will be offered for the Evo?

I have an 08' w/CVT. It holds the gears on acceleration, but but will shift down auto if you are coming to a stop, but it will allow to down shift @ any time while driving. Best to drive one to see how seamless it works from auto to manual. I really enjoy the CVT now after having my car since 3/30/08. It take a little getting used to.

The Evo will have 2 transmissions, a standard manual and a DSG style twin clutch one clutch plate for odd gears and one clutch plate for even gears. it will be an internal clutch as far as i know. so way different than a cvt, it will still have gears. as for the gts and its cvt, i'd like to know how much HP you can throw at it before it explodes and what its real life expectancy is aka after the warranty is up whats it worth?

i have that 5speed and i love it... i test drove the cvt and its just annoying it sounds like the trannys slipping constantly... but mines silver and stock but i cant wait for there to be some suspension up grade i think these are going to look great lowered... im excited...

i dont know what the hype is about the cvt...
i hear if theres anything wrong with it you have to replace the whole unit...
we have a good warranty but i still dont trust it..
is anyone happy with their cvt?

When test driving CVT felt awkward, I really did not get a chance to figure out shift points and all while on the test drive with the CVT. After owning the car for almost a full month and taking a Reno road trip the CVT feels very cool. I have taken it on winding roads to test up and down shift at various speeds while cornering. I feel ashamed but I do not miss my 5 speed anymore. I feel like I have control more quickly now with the CVT. That or the car is adapting to my aggressive driving??? I will post if I have any problems, as for now I love my new car and do not miss my Ralliart. Well mabey a little....

So the CVT acts like a WRC transmission in manual mode. The transmissions in WRC cars downshift automatically when you slow down for a corner.
