I crashed my lancer

I hit a curb at about 35 to 40 mph head on with the tire. i have aftermarket tenzo r rims they are 17s but the problem now is my check engine light is on now when i reset my computer it goes off but idles rough and almost chokes out. then the computer feeds it more gas and then it revs high for a sec. it will do that for a while then the check engine light comes back on and it runs fine like nothing is wrong. i just need to know what this could be and if this happened to anybody else. thanks

Unhappy

no there is no fluid leaks and there is no visible damage besides the hub studs being striped out and the rim all messed up. otherwise i dont know what is wrong. i drove it home it didnt drive any different besides with teh messed up rim. i hit at the perfect angle. like i had the wheel cocked all the way to the left and slid into the curb with the wheel cocked. the rim didnt get bent it just scratched and gouged it everywhere. i mean i assume the axle is beant with the lower control arm and maybe in the whole entire suspension on the passenger side of the car. there is no leakes at all. i jacked it up and i looked underneath there is no cracks or anything on the trans either. i thought that when i hit the curb that the axel slammed back into the trans and may have cracked the housing. let me know what oyu can come to with that information if you need anything else let me know thanks again.

try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes then reconnecting it. let it sit idle for 10 minutes and drive it around after the 10 mins. see what happens.

yeah i did that. it ran like **** it stalled out a few times. when i was letting it idle. after about 5 min of idle check engine light comes on. when the check engine light comes on it runs fine again. so that wont work and i cant really drive it its not drivable anymore till i get a new hub

maybe with the force of the hit, something got shifted or loose such as your intake manifold, or header, or downpipe. maybe a spark plug wire or spark plug?

when you reset you ecu, it'll always act like it's going to stall out. It takes about 30 miles or 3 days worth of normal driving for the ecu straighten itself from its Default performance perimeter.

yeah but i did my clutch myself and i had the battery out and when i plugged it in it never did anything close to that. its weird. its not normal i know that for a fact

i work for suabru and none of the techs here have any idea what it could be. i figured everyone on here drives a lancer would have a better idea and so far everyone on here has given me better answers then any of the techs at my workits just that i have already tried the obvious stuff. maybe there is to much **** that isnt obvious enough

Rough idle can usually be traced to a vaccum leak or an ignition problem, which could be either fuel or spark related. I could probably trace it down if I could look at the car in person, but with out physically seeing it that's really all I can offer. Good Luck finding and fixing the problem.

thanks for all your help i will take a look at leaks or any kind of fuel problem. my other question is could i have thrown any kind of timing off or what happens with a knock sensor. do mitsus have that or not and could that have set something off to cause it to run rough when i reset the ecu. like i said it runs fine and normal when the check engine light comes on. also with the car jacked up in the air and when i just first start it the tires in the front will start to spin while it is in neutral. its weird i F**ked something up bad i dont know whats wrong at all i want to fix it myself to save money but i dont even know were to start. thanks for all your help.

Let us know what you find because I have something similar--only its a little different. My idle is fine, then all of the sudden it drops and then my check engine light pops on. Soon, the idle returns to normal and everything is ok, but the light stays on. The code is for Bank 1 too rich. I'm thinking its either my 02 sensor or my MAS.
