Question Flat spot

ok here is one for the brains in here. during 2ng gear about 4500 rpm and 3rd gear same rpm's, i am experiencing what seems to be a flat spot .. now this doesn't happen all the time but frequent enough. i only have 3000 miles on my car and it didnt start until about a week ago, any one knowing anything about what might be wrong so i have a good idea when i can get it back to the dealer what to tell them. thanks alot

that is kinda wierd, thats usually when the torque kicks in, on my car anyway. ive only got an intake. could be something with the fuel system?

It could be a problem with the car not being completely warmed up...i dunno. I would say have someone take a look at your fuel delivery system that would be a good start

maybe a computer issue? try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes (to reset the ECU), then reconnect and let the car sit running for 10 minutes so the ECU can recalibrate, then drive it and see if the problem persists.

I don't think the third gear flat spot is an issue. With the power available from the motor, the pull will end at roughly the middle of third gear. As for second, it should pull relatively well until the end. An intake will help power delivery in third and should carry you all the way to max torque and 4th will pull only marginally harder towards about the middle of the gear.

So are you saying in you should shift from 3rd at around 3 grand because the rest of that gear has no more pull? im not disagreeing or agreeing im just trying to make sure i understand what you're saying...?

Paul is correct, my car drives exactly as he described. Plenty of torque all thru powerband in 1st and 2nd and midway thru 3rd. After that I can put the pedal to the metal and not much happens. Not much high end torque at all. If that's what you are talking about, it's normal.

ok maybe this sounds better to you guys, i dont think i explained it well. you know when your sitting at idle with your ac on lets say. And when the ac pump kicks in your idle drops just a split second ? On now put that in the equasion @ 3k rpm area while accelerating. its just a cuick miss sort of as if the ac pump was kicking in even thought it is turned off. Does that help ? and thanks to all of your advice guys

ohh and it is significant enough to feel but not hurt acceleration enough to worry about , just a new car and all im sure you all understand concerns
