SRI blew off the intake manifold??

i gunned it and my intake blew right off the throttle body. i diddn't know at first and tried driving it but the car would rev up then die. i did that a couple times before i decided to check under the hood. could this have caused any serious damage. is there anything i should do?

no, just reconnect the sri and make sure you tie it real tight. thats why it blew off in the first place. disconnect your battery for 5 mins. then connect it, start your car and let idle for exactly 15 minutes.

WOW, it's really not cool. Someone told me if this would ever happen to me it would destroy my engine.
You should check your plugs. Since your MAF was disconnected your ECU did not know how much fuel to add. Maybe you were lean or rich who knows. If the tips of the plugs are white then you were lean. If you think your engine was very hot (running lean) then you could have damaged the gaskets from intake manifold.
This is the only knowledge I got about this problem. It happened to my friend's eclipse.
His gasket blew up from the IM.

The MAF would tell the ECU that it's got virtually no air moving through it. If the ECU is smart it'd realize something was wrong and immediately throw the car to full rich...but I don't know if that's the case. Reconnect it, and if everything feels fine...everything's almost definitely fine. The chances of something catastrophic happening are pretty slim, and the effects would probably have been immediate.

its not really that bad of a thing. the computer can compensate when something like that happens. just tighten the clamps and do what Archangelite said.

Then I guess the ECU does know enough to throw it into limp mode. I'm sure that's reassuring for you MAF people with cars that...you know...run and stuff.

you guys remember BOOYAH1369? He ran with, get this, dryer hose clamped directly to his TB, with pantyhose for a filter, for a week or something. No MAS, no filter, just the dryer hose. Said he was getting 6MPG but making "mad power" When he put everyting back the car ran fine.

You'll be ok
