Backfires as in fire coming back out the intake about to catch your air filter on fire.... or what you think is "backfire" when there is popping in your exhaust from unburnt fuel when you let off the gas..?

Those are lean pops. Common on motorcycles with aftermarket exhaust. On a bike you turn out the idle screws to richen it. Most people don't care. I don't know how you could richen the idle without enriching the whole fuel curve on the car though. If someone esle has an idea?

If you've done things to your exhaust, it happens.

I'm turbo and it does it shifting from 1st gear to 2nd at boost above 4500rpms, if its not hella loud and noticeably damaging, then its normal i have come to understand. especially if you have modded the exhaust. Changing out the exhaust manifold/headers amplifies the issue since theres no cat right there anymore.
