Do you have a test pipe? I put on a test pipe, and axle back, left the resonator on and my car is a little louder than what I like. If you take the resonator off, it'll definitly get louder, the resonator is a small version of a muffler.

All i have is a muffler and i have one of the loudest cars in my neighborhood. I think it's just the muffler you have. I can barely touch the accelerator and set of car alarms. In the morning when i pick up my friend i don't even have to call she can hear me coming from inside the house.

The resonator is what looks like a small muffler. Going from the 2nd cat, it goes like this:

2nd cat ---> resonator --->muffler

If you had a custom catback put on, chances are they took out your resonator as well, since it sits in the way.

This also has something to do with the diameter of piping inside the muffler, IILANCER. Couple of our club members have 2.5" piping mufflers, not exhausts, and their's are infinitely louder and deeper than mine, which is 2.25". And I have a header!

Why do people advocate taking out the resonator. It doesn't improve HP, unless forced induction.

You'll just get the bumblebee, weedwhacker, or mositoes (sp?) on steriods sound. Also, you attract cops if they feel you need a breakfast of tickets.

So i took out my resonator. hehe its a lot louder im not going to lie, and i know it doesnt improve anything, but .. . it does make it a full cat-back now, which is nice and sounds a lot nicer as well.

so i guess my worries and troubles are over, all that needs to be done now its weld the pipe on, taking it to school tomorrow so my auto's class can do it, this turned out to only cost me 4$ for a pipe, haha.. i love school
