RRM Header Problem

I just installed my RRM header yesterday and had basically no problems. Only one was that i couldn't reattatched the header to the body to stabilize due to different size of bolt and the fact that they don't quite line up. Anyway, after my install I had the usual smoke and smell, but it also doesn't sound right. I can hear the deeper sound from it but there is also a higher sound that just doesn't seem right. My only other engine upgrade is the RRM intake. I'll try to post some sound clips as soon as I can but does anybody have any idea's on this? I have triple checked to make sure all nuts are tight as I can get them...

It doesn't come with gaskets or bolts if I remember correctly. The smoke is normal and the sound is probably normal too. Not sure what you mean by attaching the header to the body, can you clarify that with pics?

I have one side bolted in but the other side doesn't fit and I was told that my exhaust is shaking from behind when I drive... but it doesn't sound like it is hitting anything...

The exhaust shaking is probably normal, exhaust gases are flowing faster now so they have more force to them. The downpipe bolt is kinda weird, I think mine bolted on without a problem.

K, so i'm sitting here thinking and I remember that one of the split washers that attatches the header to the exhaust was opened up a little more than the other. Anybody know if that could be letting in out out some unwanted air?

If you let the car idle for a while, does the engine bay smell of exhaust fumes? That's one way to find out if there's a leak.

as far as position goes... i wouldn't worry about the bolt. i did not attach it on my car and i have had no issues. the sound is also normal--my car took on a much higher pitch when i put the header on. you'll get used to it.

the split washers shouldn't be causing a leak... if you had a leak it was because of the gasket. if your gasket is bad there will be a exhaust leak. the gasket does the sealing, not the washers.

Alright cool, thanks a lot. Guess I'll break down and buy a new gasket ( a whole 5 bucks or so?).
