IMPORTANT - 2008/2009 Lancer window tint problem
No recall. They still don't put felt on ANY lancer. Not even the 2011's!
There are three options.
1. If you don't want scratches all over your tint use this kit
2. Don't Tint
3. Live with the ugly scratches and have people think your ghetto.

I have got my window tinted at what is probably the best place to do the job around my city and they installed felt but I had a lot of glue on my tint. So since it's life time warranty from them I came back and re-installed new felt but this time they cutted the felt in half so it's less wide. But I still have glue... I guess I will have to go see them again. Hopefully I won't cost me a penny but it's still...
Anyway it would be way easier if Mitsubishi had designed those lancer with felt already.
When I went to my dealer last week the lancer in the showroom had big felt coming out of the weather strip... Like 3/8'' inch taller than the weather strip and it's a 2010 but mine is a 2010 and don't have felt like that so I guess that if you're lucky you get a car with felt.

2011's don't have felt either. You CAN'T see if felt is on the inner weather strip without popping open the door panel.
I think your tint shop is using cheap moleskin. If it keeps happening tell them to buy the good stiff from Tint Protector.

hey man tell the shop to use 3m spray adhesive, its worked fine for me and its been over a year already.
the glue from the tint protector felt came off after a couple of months so i had to reinstall the felt with 3m havent had any problems since.
Geez I thought I was the only one! When I had mine done the tint shop told me I needed the felt, so I paid extra for it and I still have scratches up and down my windows.
Great thread BTW, but it would be super sweet if the originator of the thread or someone on the first page could post up the resolutions so people don't have to read all the 15 pages. Just an idea.

Here's a thought on the felt and glue issue... I used the moleskin product mentioned here time and time again - and had the glue issue as well. However, I was able to FIX it by doing the following...
The window rubber guide has two blades (upper and lower). The glue problem, at least in my case, was with the lower blade. If you take out the rubber guide, you will notice that the lower blade sits at an angle (whereas the top blade is practically vertical). As a result, when you are rolling down the window - the angled blade means that its easier for the felt to catch and get pulled out of place - resulting in the glue residue problem.
To SOLVE this was very simple, instead of cutting the moleskin in half as per the instructions, I took the full width moleskin and wrapped it around the entire lower blade (not just on the side that contacts with the glass - but wrapped it to cover both the top and bottom of the blade).
Since then, no glue residue and knock on wood no scratches!
Also, this does mean you will need more moleskin than the standard kit for the Lancer. Just talk to the seller and he is open to give you a few more feet of moleskin for a few $ more. IMHO, this is the only way to make the moleskin work... Otherwise, the risk of glue residue (and the moleskin on the bottom blade shifting/coming off) is just too high... Better do it right the first time!
Goodluck!

There is only one company that manufacturers the felt that has the glue that can withstand getting wet and super hot. Tint Protector.
There is some super cheap felt moleskin out there that is made for home windows. That crap won't last. Moleskin is a generic name. Make sure you get the stuff that's meant for car tint.

I had this problem with my 08 as well. The problem is that there is no felt installed on the inside of the window channel, so any sort of dirt and debris that gets on the OEM plastic will scratch the tint. After 3 years my tint looked HORRIBLE. I went with Moleskin felt (from Tint Protector) for a solution. The kit is just 30 bucks, and takes about 20 minutes to install on all 4 windows. After that I ripped off the old tint and had it redone. 6 months after getting new Llumar tinting, I don't have a hint of a scratch - and 3 days was more than enough time before rolling my windows down.

Had the same issue. I had to get my windows redone like 3 times. Final solution for me was moleskin + removing the lower rubber blade (one thats on like a 45 degree angle)
Havnt had a problem since

+1 good job
Seems to be a good solution, but don't want to cut it off to find out later its there for a reason.
TINT PROTECTOR What is the purpose of the lower rubber blade?

It could also get louder win the cabin which is never a good thing....
