IMPORTANT - 2008/2009 Lancer window tint problem

Moderator edit: This thread is worth reading if you want tint on your 2008. It shows that the only way to really make it work is to buy the tint protector product.

Anyone have any problems with tinting their windows on the '08 GTS? I'm getting the tint redone on mine due to some vertical scratches in it. Seems to be getting worse after every use of the windows. I was told it happens from a poor install, but it looks to be more of a physical problem. I've never seen it before on any of my other vehicles.

I had mine done by the dealership before I took delivery. I've had it for 2.5 weeks and all is well with mine.

I guess it wouldnt hurt of course to wait 2 weeks before rolling down your windows, but typically if its nice sunny weather and your car is exposed to it, it should only take about 4-5 days and then you can roll down your windows and get it wet.. If the weather is really cool or cold, then you should wait longer.

My car was actually a dealer trade so i really could not say if anyone waited at the original dealer before rolling them down. I just had them fixed today so i'll see if it was just a mistake from the other dealer or if there is something dragging internally.

Well after a week since the new tint was applied to my windows, i have yet to notice any new vertical scratches. Hard to say if the dealer took a look at the internal mechanisms or not. The door panels do not appear to have been removed. So i guess it was a poor tint job from the original dealer.

mine is getting those scratches and making some %^&$ed up sounds when i roll them down. the scratches are just on the tint and they rub off.

you guys are saying i ought to have the dealer look at it?

If they are the ones who installed it, i would have them look at it. My scratches were in the tint but would not rub off.
