I got my windows tinted about 2 weeks ago and the tint on the driver side window is starting to peel right by the bottom corner by the mirror. Its the hard rubber thats causing the issue. I also have a small vertical scratch on my rear left window. I'll be getting this tint protector this week. What a bummer...I get really uneasy when the sound comes up when the windows are going down.

I just got an 09 Lancer, and I think they mitsu put the softer surface on both sides of the rubber. I don't think the 09s will need the felt protector. Can anyone confirm this??

Take a look at the inside weather strip....

Does it have felt applied to it? Maybe your dealer put Tint Protector on it.

^^ Its not like extra felt or anything, its definitely how it came from the boat. The inner inside and outer inside weatherstripping both feel the same, definitely not raw hard rubber like it is on the outer parts.

i have an 09 and mine does NOT have any sort of felt on the rubber part. my tint got some light scratches after putting my window down and up a few times. i put the moleskin on a few days ago and then it was about 90* so some of the glue melted and streaked on my window. but hopefully it will turn out ok and not continue to get worse

the excess glue will go away. I had some streaking on my windows at first. It's all good now

Oh yeah... to remove the smeared glue, I used a shop paper towel (the blue paper towel rolls) with a small amount of paint thinner soaked into it. I followed that up with quickly cleaning the tint with window cleaner.

09's do need the Tint Protector.

The problem is farther down inside the door than your finger can reach. The first blades that sit on top and outside of the door panel are felt lined however the window swiper below it is plastic and unfelted. You cannot simple stick your finger in it to feel.

I just did this mod and I am getting some glue streaking and I also got one big scratch in a window that I had installed the felt on....wtf? I am going to get that one window retinted, but will the adhesive streaking stop? I know i installed it right and after I saw the adhesive streaking I went back and checked to make sure none of the felt had peeled and it was all good.

I got the tint protector. Installed no problem. Got high quality tint installed professionally. The guy said he had been doing it for over 15 years and the only reason it would scratch is poor tint quality and install.

I had the tint protector installed before hand anyways.

Left the window up for 2 weeks (in 60-75 sunny weather)

Rolled them down a few weeks ago, and after only a few times up and down....wow scratches!!! (ALSO GLUE MARKS)

This is also protected with tintprotector.com

Very interesting... I am curious on what the tinter/tint protector will say.

Somehow I had 35% front and 20% rear tints from the lot on my 09. Today I noticed some small bubbles in the corner of the left rear windows tint and the dealership replaced the tint on that window. They told me to wait 3 days before I roll down that window. No problems with any scratches yet... **knocks on wood**

You need to install the Tint Protector Moleskin AFTER the tint is installed or reinstalled.

The chemicals the tint shop uses to clean the windows could cause the adhesive to break down in the moleskin.

They use a spray bottle and liberally soak the window. The soap and chemicals soak the moleskin.

It’s not the moleskins fault
