2008 Lancer "pulls to the left" Issue Petition
You all have the GTS model right? Has anyone with a DE or ES mentioned a problem?
If not... perhaps it is a defect with the manufacturing of those big 18" wheels you guys have? Some of you have mentioned that it got worse after a rotation... and no amount of alignments seems to be fixing it for you.
Just an idea. (If BBS was the OEM for the wheels, and they were going bankrupt earlier in the year...)

mine pulls to the left slightly but i dont mind it since it forces me to keep my hand on the wheel
. It also seems to be combatable with certain acceleration patterns, it doesnt pull ALL the time.
Whats this talk about our car only having torque on one side? that would probably explain why it pulls to the left if all the pull is going to the right side. And that would explain why its combatable with acceleration habits.

Yea mine has the same problem with the left pull. Is it just happening to CVTs or to the Manuals as well? Mine is CVT. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the tranny but does it happen to both platforms or is it just poor work on one?
Roctght...I was in mediation with Mitsu, and they agreed to swap me out into a brand new GTS... Same car as mine, which is the GTS w/ S&S and Navi., but I chose the Red instead of the Grey which I currently have. We should talk further about this though, as I probably have info. you can use. I'm leaving out of town tomorrow and don't have time right now, but I'll pm you next week. By the way, I pick my new Lancer up tonight or tomorrow...
Mine sometimes pulls to the left a little but not that big of a deal, but I'm going to bring it in for check up.
When idling my rpm jumps up above 1k rpm and then goes back down. Anyone else get the same problem?

Found out why...
i work part time at a small alignment shop and decided to put my car on and check out the specs finally. So I find that the rear has a big thrust line of about .3 degrees to the left and the front is toed out with a total toe of .45 degrees. The right side is toed out more than the left. When the right tire tries to straighten itself out, it will send the left tire way out to "left" field :P Thus the little wander we all find to the left. I will attach some pics and will let you know if the dealer fixes it. If not I will do it myself and set it up how I want the car to preform.
I know not everyone has the option of doing this themselves but I thought I would let you guys/gals know of what I found. Also this is only with 6000Kms on my car. Its definitely factory settings. Anyways hope this helps.
Also look at the front left camber....its positive...eeek.

I wish my new shop had an alignment machine! I always did my alignments on a nice Hunter machine.
I don't see toe causing much of a pulling-issue though, but that thrust line could be a major concern. How was the front caster when you hooked the lancer up to the alignment machine? Is our caster/camber adjustable from the factory, or do we need a kit to mess with any of that? I would love to see some specs on the 08 lancer. I can't believe everybody is having such a big issue with this pulling to the left problem. My 2008 Lancer (DE model, keep in mind) has no pulling-issues, and I am very impressed with the factory alignment. I have always been told that the factory alignments are not the greatest thing, but they should not be this bad.
Since my DE model has no pulling-issues, I wonder if it has something to do with the factory tire on the GTS model? The tire on my DE (205/60R16) is a Yokohama Avid. The GTS comes from the factory with a Dunlop SP Sport 5000 M tire (215/45R18). When I worked back at goodyear (Dunlop is a goodyear tire), I remember having some problems with Dunlop sport tires. I wonder if there will be a possible recall on the tire, or the factory alignment? Rotating the tires hasn't helped some of the Lancer guys though. Hopefully Mitsubishi will resolve this problem soon. Good luck with the petition.
I'd like to hear from some more DE/ES guys though.

I didn't look at the front for adjustments other than the obvious toe, and the rear has one adjustment which should effect toe and camber I think. If the dealer doesn't fix it then I will just tweak it myself and see if I get any better results. It may take me a week or two to get this done so hang tight guys.
Got my replacement car today. Rally Red GTS w. S&S and NAVI. Ended up even getting wheel locks thrown in with this one. Mitsu bought my car back and transfered VIN's w/ the bank to a brand new car. SSSWWWWEEEEETTTTTT!!!!!!! I requested the Rally Red opposed to the Graphite Grey I had previously, as the grey got rock chips like crazy. Hope this one doesn't have the same alignment issue as the last. If it does I'll raise hell again! Hope you all can have your problem resolved in the same manner.
Ok so first time I noticed the problem they crossed the two front tires which was a bandaid fix for about 2days then the pull came back.. I went back and got it balanced and aligned and the issue is still there. They suggested to monitor it and wait until the car is due for it's first wheel balance so the tires can "set in". I wonder if Mitsu will compensate us for our tires since it looks like they will have a short tread life with this issue.
