Exclamation Lancer hood latch broken

Hey guys,

I have an aftermarket fiberglass hood on my lancer. The actual pin on the hood that locks snapped due to being rusted. Any idea where i can get a replacement

Here's a link to the picture.

For some reason it won't let me upload.

Looks pretty bad. You don't have a better picture?

go to a junkyard and see if you can find any suitable replacements?

Sorry don't have a better picture.

Took a trip to the junkyard and all the hoods seem to have the bar attached to the hood itself (hood frame). Anyone have a 03-06 lancer that can confirm this?

Would purchasing the entire hood itself be out of the question? Probably be easier and would hold up better than a fiberglass hood would.

Given it's fibreglass, and that latch failed, wouldn't it be safer to install hood pins?

The hood has catch pins on it but i prefer having the oem style lock for support.
Latch seems to be aftermarket. 4 bolts holding onto it. Only reason it failed was due to being exposed to extreme weather (winter driven)

I would think that the pins (if installed correctly) would hold even better than the oem lock. But that also doesnt help keeping people from opening your hood when you're not there.

Again my suggestion would be to just pick up a hood with the latch built in so you dont run into this problem in the future as another fiberglass hood would probably have the same type of latch which could rust again.

Catch pins are installed correctly but like you mentioned its to prevent people from accessing my engine bay.

I'm pretty happy with the fiberglass hood and its lasted me a few years so I prefer not to purchase another one.

*After some googling I found the correct term for the pin on the hood. It's called a "striker". Haven't found anything for the lancer yet.*

Anyone here have an aftermarket hood (lancer and evo) that can quickly look at their locking mechanism. Trying to see if the striker is built in like new Seibon hoods or detachable.

Thanks
