Post all SQUEAK complaints here

Ok, so since every single week I see a new squeak/rattle/strange noise thread, I'm starting a sticky thread for each. Since most of them are almost impossible to locate, this should consolidate the possibilities and help you guys compare. As for my car, I have all 3 and stopped looking for most of them. It's called a $15k econobox on stiff suspension that gets driven hard. C'est la vie!

rear suspension squeak, more specifically the passenger side, sounds like squeaky rubber. anyone else have a problem with the rear shocks or squeaking?

Get some grease, I think lithium grease, because WD-40 will run, get dirty, and fade in no time.

Actually, I gave my rear end a shot of WD-40, and I never heard another noise. Maybe I saturated them well or something...

moving the rear tires up front and the fronts to the back is fine, it won't hurt anything (actually, that's how you rotate your tires), but it probably won't solve your problem. You might need to have a wheel bearing repacked or replaced. Not too expensive.

I don't think your debadging will help the squeak at all either, but try it anyway

Not really a squeak, but my speedometer cable loves to rattle when the temperature changes. I have pulled the gauge cluster and lubed it. Still rattles. I don't know if anyone else has the same problem. I'm with Urban-15K econobox, you get what you pay for once you start doing more than grocery getting.

My rear strut squeaked after about 5000 miles. It doesn't anymore, because replaced it under warranty because it was leaking.
