Dash Lights

I need some advice on what is wrong with the lights in the AC control panel. I installed the reverse indiglo guage and now they wont work. I spliced the green and white wire and the black and yellow to the positive wire of the guage. Then I used the solid black wire to the negative ground of the guage. I think I might be using the wrong wire as a the ground. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I checked all the fuses and they are good, I even disconnected the negative terminal from the battery during the whole splicing process. Please help, thanks guys....

Well I finally figured out what the hell was wrong. I will finish up on the work today and post some night pics of what I was trying to do. In short, I had to end up resodering some wires and changing my wiring method. If anyone needs help on this install just pm me. I have a better understanding on the process of how to install correctly. Problems like these make it all worth the head scrattching becasue you learn alot in the end.
