my car is smoking is that normal?
i had to update this:
just to bring everyone back on track, the dealer paid for the damage done to my car when they messed it up on their test drive. HOWEVER, they will NOT fix the oil burning problem, its STILL doing it after a full yr. i take excellant care of my car, and only use the best of the best oils and such. i am asking any person that really knows this engine well, what the he11 can be wrong w/ it.
here is what it is doing, if it sits a while(about 4 hours) and i go to start it up, it will smoke blue oil for about 30 seconds, enough to gag any person too. it also smokes if it sits in one place while running(such as drive-throughs) when i go to pull out i see a GIANT cloud of blue smoke behind me, it does NOT smoke when driving though, only after a stop or after it was sitting. i also am using about 1 quart of oil every 1200-1600 miles.
car now has 35, 560 miles and the POS warrenty is almost up, although no dealer will even touch it because it has a ebay aftermarket intake, which has nothing to do with this situation anyways.
i am asking if it is either the piston rings, the valve seals, valves themselves, or something i have no idea about.
if it is the valve seals, are they semi-easy to change? and how much u think the parts or parts&labor would cost.
i need to know because i plan to go turbo in about another month and dont want everything to get f'ed up
if it costs a lot then i guess i'll be either buying a ebay motor or selling the car.
thanks for any suggestions
EDIT:I forgot to say that my car doesnt idle, it bounces between 600 and 2500 rpm, usually sort of hanging around 1600 rpm, I KNOW it is NOT any vaccum lines, MAS is definatly perfectly fine, and i never messed with anything that would screw up the idle, i also replaced pcv valve, borrowed a diff. mas from a buddy, and reset my ecu multiple times and ran through the reset procedures. im getting fed up w/ a new car having soo many problems and basically a COMPLETE JOKE of all the pa dealers that say mitsu honors warrenties, thats complete BS. any ideas on what this could be are appreciated, i am thinking it may have something to do with the other oil problem descirbed above.

bump, gotta know soon, cause my local dodge dealer has a sweet deal on a 2004 srt-4 w/ all options, i can possibly trade w/ them, but i dont wanna if its not necessary
Wow that doesn't sound normal at all. If I were you I'd go to the dealership and if they didn't help I'd place a call to either a news station telling them how the dealership is refusing to honor warranties for defective vehicles, or I'd go over their heads and place a complaint with mitsubishi. The idle is definitely not normal, mine did that when I installed by TB wrong, so something is definitely not working correctly on your car. Just remember no matter what they say you can always get work done, its just a matter of either threatening lawsuits, bad press, or both.
The only way to know if it's piston or head related is to do a compression test. It's easy, you just need a compression tester. If there's a valve problem the check is to open your oil fill cap and sniff around. If there's a strong gas smell, that's a valve problem.
Have you called Mitsu Corporate?
How much oil is being burned between fills?
Honestly, if you're gonna boost, you need to get this fixed ASAP. If the Dodge dealer is willing to make a good trade, you might just be happier with a factoy boosted, under warranty SRT-4 anyway. Just make sure the car is warmed up when you take it in
