Major Concern
yes, gutting the cat on your own can be harmful if not done properly. And the cat mentioned here is the pre-cat or 1st cat. Getting a test pipe that was machined and meant for this application ensures no exhaust leak, it also is 10lbs. lighter than the stock cat.

You need to open up your air by using an high flow intake.

The O2 simulator will bring a constant voltage reading on the 2nd sensor. It's enough to trick the ecu that the 2nd O2 sensor is within performance perimeter. Thus, the A/F will be back to normal, so the 1st O2 sensor doesn't get all confused from all of its reading.
The way I gutted it was by disconnected the exhaust from beneath and used rebar and a screw driver to hollow out the middle then used the screw driver to scrape out the rest, I wasnt very forceful with it once I got the main hole made. I agree that no one should try this...the only reason I did it was because Im low on cash...and obviously it doesnt take any to do it yourself....does anyone know where I can get an 02 simulator ?

email the author of the O2 mod . . . if you have any Q?
If I still have spare parts, I can send them to you if you provide a Self addressed Stamped envelope. Just PM me.

Yes. The 2nd O2 sensor won't send a signal for the 1st O2 sensor to correct itself. It will give a constant signal of little leanness or richness (can't remember).
But I don't know the voltage on the lancer . . . if it's the same.
