Unhappy Turbo lag

sup ppl i got a lil prob my turbo doesnt immediatally give my car boost when i hit the gas it always takes like a couple of seconds for the it to get before it applies the boost or whatever, it always lags when i step on the gas then when i reput my foot on the pedal the car lunges forward like badly whenever it starts moving.

at low end engine speeds the turbo boosts the car pretty good, like the speeds any where from 0-40est but makeing the gear change to 60mph or getting up to 60mph or past it the car lags ..i hear the engine and turbo accelerating but the car stays at 40mph and doesnt accelerate the speedometer just moves and thats it..i dont know what to do should rotate parts or something ..readjusting wastegate vavle?i dont have a IC yet so i dont see why it lags ...but it does over heat very badly u think reconfiging the compression ratio of the engine could help ? or the compressor it self? the turbo is a small turbo a Garrett T-25 Roller Bearing Turbo 6psi i have a blow off valve ,rpw stage 1 custom camshaft and manifold ..i still need to get a IC ,Injectors, and conrtoller i dont know if what i have is good or if what i have is not enough and if thats why it lags..like i said low engine speeds its alright but during the higher gears u cant really hear the turbo spin and the car does not accelerate even when i let it catch up it still doesnt really give me boost so idk?...SRY FOR MAKING THIS SOOO LONG BUT JUST NEED SOME HELP SRY

wow, hows that camshaft working for ya? I would start at adjusting the blow off valve so that it doesn't have to use as much air to spool up But i only wish I had your predicament.

You need help before you blow **** up. Call RPW for help fast! Over heating bad as you said is BAD. Lag is least of your worries!!
Parts are not going to solve all of your problems.

Moving to the appropriate forum.

Call a pro and (if possible) don't drive the car until you get some sort of answer. You're likely to do a lot of damage if you don't.

you are always going to have turbo lag. thats why it is called turbolag... (blowoff valves help) if you dont want lag redo your engine and supercharge... still has a small lag but not one you would notice... before you do more big things fix your car... go to your mechanic and say "fix it"

The concern isn't about the lag. The concern is about his turbo spooling but not functioning properly as well as badly overheating. (Well, the concern on our end anyway).

As for lag, rode in Modern Image-RRM Lancer with ROB. It had no lag. Very cool!! Supercharger is not needed . He just needs to get stuff he has working properly.

Check your hoses first! Your symptoms are pointing to the boost leak and that is why you have surges ones you lift the throttle (you create vacuum in side the manifold and engine runs fine, since the turbo piping is removed from the loop).

i think the turbo is to small

yo i think you sould upgrade your turbo it's way to small.the t-28 is the best for the lancer engine.the t-25 is great for the mirage but for the lancer it's to small and doesn't spoll that good compare to the t-28.i think just change the turbo.or just call rob rrm he would help you and if that doesn't work call
or rpw.

ok..the main reason for over heating is because you are running lean and the motor is burning up. also roller bearing turbos have a lot of lag compared to a ball bearing turbo which has almost no lag. you are having some serious problems and you should check everything over for leaks. the T-25 is FINE to use everyone. its not like he is trying to make over 300 hp out of the motor. everyone thinks bigger is better. its not. also, a BLOW of valve will increase turbo lag. a BY-PASS valve will help decrease it. the type of valve doesn't matter if you are dragging tho, its jus for everyday use (for lagging that is) its takes about 3 seconds sometimes for my boost to kick in. depends on what gear i'm in and my speed.

anyway, i wouldn't drive your car at all. you are definatly running lean since you have no fuel management. probably worse then i did it seems like. if you have to drive make sure you stay out of boost. shift before 3,500 rpm and don't floor it. trust me i've been through this. it took me 3 months to get my fuel right... up to today. get the 300cc injectors, 1.7:1 fuel pressure regulator, and an AFC from RPW. you'll be set then

T-25 is rated at 300hp, That is plenty fine for 8psi.
a t-28 will take longer to spool up causing more lag.

I am unfamiliar with your car but imagine the stock ECU would have some problems with turbo charging. If it figures too much air is going into the engine it may impose fuel or ignition cut. Ignition cut is disturbing but fuel cut will create a lean condition and the resulting detonation may melt of crack your pistons. If you are certain this is not the case then…

Have you fitted a bigger exhaust? A restrictive exhaust will limit boost and make the power fade away as you describe.

One often over looked source of boost leak is an infective or misadjusted blow-off /dump valve. As boost raises the valve may not be capable of holding pressure and leak. Once again fade.

If you can hear your turbo spooling up then it is unlikely that the problem is with the wastegate. When the wastegate opens the turbo should stall.

Watch the overheating. The aluminium head will warp and possibly crack if you let this happen much.
