I have taken a huge interest in the upcoming Mustang. I like the styling and the numbers. But what I am really considering is the 06 SVT. I know it will have a new rear suspension setup. But does anyone have an idea of the HP numbers?

 

Well from the info that was shared recently at the SVTOA meeting that they had up in Detriot for some kind of SVT day my brother and his buddy said they are looking at 500HP. TBD.

Should be at least 500hp. The 2004 SVT's put down nearly 400hp already.

From a corporate profit standpoint I HIGHLY DOUBT that the SVT Cobra for 06 will put down anywhere near 500HP. This is based upon the fact that their staple performance car, i.e. the Ford GT, puts down 550 and costs 4-5 as much as what the SVT is likely to ring up at next year. I mean anything is possible, but Ford would kill any success (and resale value) of the GT by bringing out a 500HP sub $50,000 Mustang. My money is on 400 horses flat or if we are lucky 425.

 

look at it this way, They just hit the 300 mark with the '05 mustang and chevy hit that mark years ago, true the 03 cobras are bad but I dunno? its the new lighting's that are supposed to have 550hp with the motor out of the new gt 40's, but they will be around 50k .

 

yeah but for the ford gt you need to take into consideration, yeah the mustang will have 500 hp, but we know 500hp on a mustang and 500 on an evo are way different when it isnt straight. just cause they would have close to the same hp doesnt mean anything, theres so much more to consider. i would be happy to see 500 on the mustang that would be cool. i think i would have a little impact on the gt but only on people who only look at the hp numbers. plane and simple, the gt in a racing marvel, the mustang, not as much
