My friends Cobra goes back to the dealer all the time for a knock in the engine the can't seem to fix? I hate Ford

GTO has a Sweet interior. The only mods I would do on the GTO are Intake ,chip and exaust. I want to keep it pretty much stock.

I would let one bad experience blind you. that one incedent is nothing compared the the amount of cobra that run great. I realize that it's your money and preference. just figured I could shed some light on some other options beside the GTO. I just don't think your gonna be happy. Looks and interior only go so far when you purchase a new vehicle. if you don't wanna go with the Cobra, or maybe a used Z06. you might as well stick with the Evo. you'll thank yourself in the end.

Tough choice, but I like both cars. However, for 400hp the GTO should be a lot quicker, and quite frankly they're not.

stock the new gto is high 12's from motor trend but that is side stepping the clutch at 4K.

My best friend just bought an 05 gto and i love that car. if i had the money, i would have one. Go with what you like better. I think the evo is cool and i like the gto too.

Slightly different cars for different people.

Why the hell should he stick with the EVO if his main intentions will be a drag car! We all love the EVO but quit being fan boys. We all know that the EVO is not meant to be a drag car. The EVO is not the best at everything and one is being a drag car. Comparing the 2, I think the GTO will better suit your need (drag - ding ding ding!). Anyways, thats just my opinion and no one elses.

For your needs, (wanting only a few mods and a drag car) I think the GTO is a better choice...... but, I'd still take the Evo.

The GTO looses based on the steering wheel alone. How can that thing be attached to a performance car?

Hey man, if u really want a drag car, u should go with an 03/04 Cobra....All u need is an intake and exhaust and u can run high 11's. The cobra is already supercharged, so any bolt ons will yield amazing gains. Read 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords magazine and you'll see what im talking about. Plus the cobra already has a Mach 450 sound system and power seat and whatever luxury u were talking about. IMO, the GTO is not that great looking, even if it has a hood scoop. Definitely go for the cobra, its a freakin beast on a drag strip !

Well I sat in an 05 GTO. The interior was sick. Hate it all you want. Ok so maybe not as nice as the M3's. But the GTO will beat it's A$$. Also the GTO is 20K cheaper than the M3

My Trans Ams were 2001 and 2002 both bought brand new. They were not old and they were not just Firebirds, they were supposed to be the best quality available.
The 2002, a convertible right off the showroom floor was bought back by the dealership and then I got my Evo after waiting for 10 years for it to come to this country. I have always owned sports cars from my 1979 Toyota Celica Supra to a 1989 Mustang State Trooper edition, 1991 300ZX TT, with others mixed in there, all the way to my Evo. None have had the tight feel and overall quality fit and finish that I have in this car. The closest was my 1993 Nissan Altima SE. I wish I had kept that car too.

Dude, buy what you want. You can always sell it and come back to the family

For the money I would go buy a 93-98 Supra TT. W/$35K to spend you should be in the 11s and wouldn't have to worry about the depreciation that you are sure to take on a new GTO.

I had 3 MKIV Supras and I can attest to the fact that if you are looking for a drag car the Supra is hard to beat.
