Is it me or does all the Pontiacs look the same. We had a guy go up to the last Import Drag Event his GTO has less than 15K miles and is on the second engine. Can you say reliability issues. I'd rather have the 400HP Evo than the GTO any day. Now a 69 GTO Judge with the tac on the hood. I'm all over that.

lol..Thanks for the memories. I used to eat Judges with the smoged down engine for breakfast. I'll go with a "64" on the Tempest platform. OK back on topic..The "05" GTO is a fast car just undersyled for my taste. The 400 HP Vette engine is new and some what unproven and as with the Vette, you are going to have to pay big bucks if you mod. Yes I have been there.

Yea. They just don't make-em like that any more. Don't get me wrong I'll take the technology and styling of today vs what they had back then. Those cars just had character. 67 - 71 GT500's, 69 - 71 Hemi Cuda's, 67 - 70 Big Blk Camaros. That new monacco or what ever it was in Australia is an embarrasement to the GTO name, I'd take the new Mustang with that old school styling of the 70's in the Cobra version. Nice addition to the garage next to the Evo.

If you really are serious about a GTO, wait until the end of the year when GM starts giving them away. The incentives in late 04 were ridiculous. With my GM card and about $1700 in credits on the car from a few years of use, I could have bought an 04 GTO for under $20K -- no joke.

But for drag racing, you'd really be better with an 03+ Mustang Cobra.

The GTO is a very impressive car. It rides a hell of a lot better than an evo. If you can stand the (extremely) bland exterior, the car is a winner. I drove an 05 and it is very quick. Its a little faster stock than an evo with bolt-ons and cams. The engine will also have a huge aftermarket, so adding more power should be easy. If you have another car for the winter, the trade makes sense. Have fun with our GTO.

I'm not a GTO hater by any means, but you're letting the low end torque of the V8 mislead you. An evo with cams and bolt ons is much quicker than a stock GTO. The GTO will do around 13.0@108 and the cammed Evo will do a low 12@110 on pump and a high 11@113+ on race gas...and those are realistic numbers, not absolute records.

DONT SELL THE EVO! For a Drift machine! thats a second car! EVO is much more fun to me! 400HP aint nothing and its only to 2 wheels instead of 4!
