C4 Corvette

I was just wondering what you guys had to say about C4 Corvettes, they seem to be a bargain for what they are, the Corvette name. I think the car looks pretty nice, not too boxy like the late 80's ones which I hate. Are they LS1 fast? How do they handle? Just an opinion from people here would be nice, ever own one? Seems to be a pretty sweet car and you can get them for sub $15k. I am not a fan at all of the digital speedo and the interior seems kinda lame, seats cheapo.

C4 Corvettes are not exactly fast. L98s aren't great, but the LT1 isn't bad. Might as well just get an LS1 Vette or F-body.

Like all other Corvettes, the handling is pretty good.

The C4 has an Lt1 in the later years, not too fast, massive low end torque, but teh top end isn't so great, well for the time it was. May parts for an Lt1 pluss it LOVES boost as it is an iron block. They seem more exotic then the C5's but just get a C5, FAR better car.

The C4 is cheap and has a great platform for anything you want to do. As much as my "nature" gravitates towards high HP 4 cylinder cars C4's are unreal when modded.

Where I work it's like Chevy central. A coworker has a bone stock C4 and this may shock all of the magazine racers out there, but he ran a 12.88@108 with 56K miles the car is a 91' with DR's. He also ran a 12.4@115mph in a bone stock 04' Z06 with DR's. He definately has the driver mod down.

the 12.88 for the c4 is great driving, but a 12.4 in the z06 with DR's is not that impressive considering that's what most good drivers run on the stock tires (eagle f1's)....heck, i ran a 12.4@116 my first time out at the track...there's a lot of time slips and videos of bone stock Z06's hitting 12.1's and 12.2's on the stock goodyears ...the amazing drivers have hit 11.9's, and a guy that goes by the name "ranger" who is well known has a video with DR's on a bone stock Z and hit an 11.6 ...now THAT is amazing driving

With the lt1 commencing in '92 the c4 was/is a sweet car. Low 13's and over 170 on the top end are nothing to sneeze at and the lt4 in '96 was a very sweet motor indeed, if a little hot running.

C4 is an awesome deal if you wanna be able to say "I own a Corvette." I have to admit, I prefer the boxy style compared to the C5, and the C6 just doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Remember, while it's cool to own a 'vette, your insurance company will love you even more. Regardless of year or style, the name Corvette will mean higher rates for you, no matter what you pay for the car.

Id take a c4 with a 700r4 real quick. They handle nice and the l98 now has bouku mods in the market. Take a GM hot cam, fast burn heads and SPDC intake manifold and dyno runs show ~350hp at the engine for about ~$1600; heads 1200, cam 200, intake 400. Barry grant recently came out with a 3 valve/cylinder heads that is made for the Gen 1 small block. Those should breath very nicely...cant wait for the flow number!
I think the vette l98 were 4 bolt mains...i cant remember...i know the z28's were 2 bolt mains hence anything over 400hp is sketchy.....but they are strong engines

The C4 with the L98 engine (87 to 91 or so) is the hot ticket for A Stock autocrossing (the same class as the Evo).
