2007 Sky Redline, S2000 Knockout???

S2000 owners can say all they want, about how their car handles like this and that, the truth is their cars in my opinion are underpowered and the look/styling is getting old. Sure the car handles very nicely and is capable of high 13s/low 14s@99-101mph (so can an Eclipse GT) but drive around town and the car feels like a slug, unless the revs are screaming toward redline. Enter the new Saturn Sky Redline, quite possibly the most attractive and most appealing to me GM product to me in years, and that is saying a lot. I'm not sure if it will handle as well as the S2000 but it sure will be fast, and have something the S2000 lacks a lot of, torque! Also it comes turbo from the factory, meaning it should pick up a lot of power with bolt ons. This car and the it's Pontiac cousin, should take away more sells from a S2000 already losing them.

2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder
RWD
5-Speed Manual
260HP@5300RPM
260TQ@2500RPM
2950-3000Lbs
0-60- 5.2-5.4 Seconds (estimate)
1/4 Mile- 13.6-13.8 Seconds (estimate)
1/4 Mile Trap Speeds- 101-103MPH (estimate)

So which do you like S2000 or Sky Redline?

I hate the Solstice but I love the Sky, and the upcoming 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec version is very tempting. I just don't know if I can live with it as my only car.

S2000 does have a mystique and the H badge on it, so it will be tough to knock out. I think it is done after '06 though.

Ha ha, so did I at first. Still it is a neat car, but not enough to save GM I think.

Even the Solstice looks nice in person. Not so much sporty as just a nice roadster though. I would drive one, the Sky is nicer!!

I think the Sky is ugly. It does, however, offer a ton of performance and fun for a reasonable price. Kudos to GM.

I must say, owning a 2001 S2000, that if I was in the market for a new toy, the '06 S2000 does very little for me. The Boxster, Z4, MP5, Solstice/Sky and other 'verts have moved forward a lot in the last few years while the S2000 has sat still. And no, the 2.2 didn't help it any.

And a "turbo" badge. That's so 80's. Ha ha. Unless you have a Prosche, it looks cheesy IMO.

A friend of mine has a deposit on one of these already. When I see a Soltice on the road, I'm surprised at how wide it is.

Not a fan of all the cheap chrome accents & wheels - take those off and the car would look 10x better IMHO.
