WTF, and I thought the Saturn looked hot, how is it that the European versions look so much hotter than the US versions, just sad. The Sky still looks hot though, but damn, Euro versions are much nicer in my opinion in their design.
The Sky is a cool little car.
I just got back from a fit and finish test run a the Sky. Looks are really nice, however the inside is rather cramped. I thought that it being a wider car , it would have maybe enough room to put my 6-2 270 lb frame in. Well head room isnt bad, but the windsheild hits at about my forhead, and my left leg, and arm rested on the door frame and inside door handle, kinda like the snug snug fit you have in a 350Z. Rather tight. And the Tunnel for the shifter is way way too big. Takes up too much room. Also where the steering wheel lies, it takes up the top half of the gauges,,, you have to do some head bobbing to see what your doing,, not good.
Top up isnt bad. But if you look in the trunk , there isnt jack shiet for any kinda of storage. The guy was trying to tell me he can get his golf bag back there,,,, ya if he is playing with playschool clubs,, lol. Also in the trunk I noticed the Bolts they used and the hunk of scrape metal they used to hinge the trunk lid in with,,,,,, What the hell is that, an after thought.
And also no spare,,, no run flats,,,, but they have a compressor in the back?
I was like what your going to fill up your flat tire with air,,,,,,lol,, and watch it go back down,, whats the point.
The hood is a cool feature, tips up like the vette. Now I can see how a 6.0 v-8 can fit in there. Also the shifter felt very good in hand. I would love to rip this rear wheel drive car all around.
So all in all, a smaller guy would be perfect for this car. Which makes me think , if this car was built around Bob Lutz, who is 6-4,,, why does it seem like it was built for someone 5-9?
G'sss I had alot of gripes with the Sky, but I guess if there is a replacement for my Evo,, the car is going to have to be Good, very good in almost every way.
Maybe if I wanted wind in my face ,, i could get a bike, FZR Yamaha would be sweet.
And anyone looking at the Sky for their sole car,,, good luck. Hope you dont buy aything at the grocery store larger than a pizza box and a six pack of coke.
I still think this car is very cool,, just not for me. This one was pretty loaded, @$26,700.
I think the redline will be into the $30,ooo's when it hits.

Yeah but that 5.5% of the Opel makes it look better. Your right they are nearly identical, but the Opel GT just looks cleaner and more simple to me, especially in the front end.
until i actually get to drive a sky redline i wouldn't make my mind up yet. though from the look department alone i'll take 1 s2k over 5 redlines. jmo though.
but i do enjoy the torquelessness of the s2k. it's part of its unique characteristics. it sure feels sluggish, but it is a beast on the tracks.

Sure the car handles very nicely and is capable of high 13s/low 14s@99-101mph (so can an Eclipse GT) but drive around town and the car feels like a slug, unless the revs are screaming toward redline. Enter the new Saturn Sky Redline, quite possibly the most attractive and most appealing to me GM product to me in years, and that is saying a lot. I'm not sure if it will handle as well as the S2000 but it sure will be fast, and have something the S2000 lacks a lot of, torque! Also it comes turbo from the factory, meaning it should pick up a lot of power with bolt ons. This car and the it's Pontiac cousin, should take away more sells from a S2000 already losing them.
You're kidding right? The styling of the s2000 is getting old? It's timeless.
The whole idea of the s2k is that you're supposed to scream to redline, that's the whole point. There's 9000 rpm to be used, not to look at. It doesn't have torque because you don't need torque unless you're drag racing.
And I'm sorry but that thing looks hideous, the lines of the car don't flow at all, and that chrome
not to mention that its a saturn... Everyone I know that has owned a Saturn has had reliability problems. But hey, it has a turbo so it must be good
