Evo to Z06
Honestly I probably wouldn’t. I'm not a huge Vette fan, but for the money the Z06s performance is unreal. I can appreciate that, but like another poster said there are tons of Vettes on the road. Most of them are driven by the mid life crisis people.
Before I bought my Evo I entertained other cars, STI, GTO, Mustang GT, and Audi S4. In the end the price, original look, performance, and rarity of the Evo won me over.
Would I mind having a C6 Z06 in the garage? Hell no. But there are plenty of other cars I would rather own before the Vette.

The people who are saying they'd never buy an American car are hilarious... Just as hilarious as the people they make fun of who say they'd never buy a Japanese or European car or whatever. Or people who say they'd never date a Brunette. Or never listen to Country music. Or never.... you get the point. You can be a fan of JDM or whatever as much as you want, but to deny that the new z06 is an amazing car and performance bargain that would be worth owning in a heartbeat is just plain blind. If you're a true performance fan - and automobile fan in general, you don't discriminate based on where something is from or the brand of it... I don't like Ford, but watching the GT destroy Ferraris and Porsches 0-150mph makes me want one.
MrJayDM: What exactly would you have to do to your RSX to get it to "pass" a z06? You do realize that stock they trap 120+ in the 1/4? And even sicker from a roll.....

It is that kind of thinking that has put American Icon companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler in trouble. We don't tax imports into our country like they tax our cars when shipped overseas.
Look I own a Highly modified Evo as you can see by my sig. Also a Subaru Gt 2.5 and a Ford Expedition.
Also have a 07 Z06 ordered and will get it in the spring. It is a performance bargin ( just like the EVO) at the price it sells for and takes out Porche 997tt, Ferrari'430's and BMW M6's for half the cost. If your a true car guy you should open your eyes and look at all types of cars and enjoy them for what they contribute to the sport we love.
I could go on but...

Thats exactly what I'm doing. Got an 07 Z ordered and I can't wait to get it!! Will keep it pretty much stock for the first year with maybe a exhaust and intake upgrade.
The car is a beast to begin with and tuners are starting to break into the ECU codes. There doing Heads, cams etc. and a couple of shops are now working on TT them if fact I think I read a thread on the Corvette forum that the Vette doctor hit 900 hp with one that should be released soon.
By the way a lot of the well known Evo's, shops and drivers that I talk to often have a lot of respect for the Z and I know of a certin Driver of a very well known Evo that is also is talking about getting one. He won't leave it stock for sure.
Evo and Vette - Two differents animals and both are great performance cars for what they cost when you compare who their competion is and how much more those cars cost.
Sorry stock for stock the Z's going to win that one everytime with me.
I will do a comparision for all of you while the Z is still stock if you are intrested when I get it.
Evo on street tune "pump gas setting" vs stock Z
Evo on " pump/meth vs stock Z
Evo on Race gas vs stock Z. LOL. Well why bother the Evo will destroy the Z
Just my 2 cents.

What is your current best time on the track with your evo and the set up you have now?
I would imagine close to the 10's. Reason i ask (and please correct me) there are stock z06's on drag radials running 11.2's? If thats not a big statement there about how potent that car is idk what else you would have to do to explain how badass it is.

The car is a twin to Dans old setup that ran a 9:87@147 in the Vegas heat. the only difference is we have twin fuel rail and He didn't. Now he does in his 42r setup as well as the AMS shop car. I think they will be offering this setup soon. Makes high HP cars a lot easier to drive and a lot smoother running. I can't wait to get it back.
So I think she has mid to high 9's in her and so does AMS. The car put down 700 +whp with C-16 @38psi thats why I said I don't think the Z would keep up with the Evo on race gas map.
I think I'll be fun to compare how the Z fares stock ( before I start to modify Z ) vs the Evo in the different map settings.
I have a friend that just got his new Z and I'll finally get to drive one very soon and yes I know what they can do stock with just a pair of slicks. Ranger: 11.1 @129mph.
Keep you guys posted.
Sounds like you have a great set up man.
I will be waiting for your results. If you get a video of your friends Z please feel free to upload it to our site on our video section i am sure alot of people would love to see that.
Also some peole with cam, and exhaust and tune have seen close to 600 or maybe even 600whp on the z, correct me if i'm wrong. I saw this i think months ago, its been awhile since i have looked at their aftermarket.
What are your opinions on the GT500?

Your right I did call HPE today on the mods and with heads,
cams, and exhaust and tune they are making close to 600 hp they have a package for about 10k thats around 650 whp and they have seen 700whp on same set up with a 200 shot. I will call some other shops in the next couple of months so I stay on top of whats going on with the Z. I'm intrested in Twin Turbos on the Z. I know there already doing them on the regular C6 and getting some great results.
As far as what I think about the GT 500. I think that although it is quite heavy and right now expensive (selling way over sticker) it is a statement as far as Ford staying in the performance field. I think they led the way in full size performance cars with the release of the new Mustang, and now GT500. Gm and Chrysler are right there with the upcomong Camaro and Challenger. This is all very good for the future of motorsports. Same with the import brands: New Evo, GTR, BMW M3 etc etc.
The GT 500 like I said is a heavy car but once the price comes down on them I think its a great car for the money if your looking for an American muscle car. I'm sure that tunning shops will be doing all kinds of upgrades to it as they are already doing for the regular Mustang. I think I read somwhere that a GT500 with a pair of slicks layed down a 11.8 @118 not bad for a heavy car. Hey it has 500 ponies in it. That can't be bad LOL.
It's nice to see your into all kinds of cars and not a Hater as some people on all sites are. I don't even bother replying to them anymore.
By the way how do you like your GTO we have a member on http://www.streettuned.org/ Local site that has a GTO with a Turbo. Traped like 128mph about a week ago and he had trouble hooking up. Got a ride in it and it pulled hard. Nice car!! Vist the site.
I'll keep posting updates on both cars Evo and Z
Take care steve

Yeah the C6 is great, however i can only imagine a TT kit for the z costing close to 15K no doubt especially if you get other supporting mods... Actually probably over that. And the scary thing is people are able to spend that kind of money on these mods, and chevy has seen that. Which is why i think they are making the z07... Now if the z07 comes out your looking at it already being boosted and with a slightly modified ls7, and a warranty!!!!. Thank god i don't have that kind of money right now or i'd be pulling my hair out to make a decision hahah.
The gt500 i do like it a lot, however i have yet to ride in one in person. Yes it is heavy and with an average driver its around 4120 if i'm correct. With someone like me 4180, so thats pretty heavy. I just don't understand if ford invested so much money in the car and research why the weight distribution is so terrible. Its truely a shame they over looked something like that. However with that all said i still think i like the 03/04 terminators better, but i'm sure once more gt500's are out at a lower price that opinion will change.
Also sticker on the gt500 is 43k msrp if i'm correct... That is kinda high for a mustang. But yes its performance is definitely something that is not to be messed with.
As for the GTO, that is chris' car and he likes it very much. I drove it 1 time (i am not a big fan of driving other peoples cars), however when i drove it i realized its a VERY nice car. Just stock with the ls2 its got some great pick up even though its on the heavy side. Chris and i are looking at what to do to his car later on, its either S/C or turbo it. Right now its a tough choice but i'm sure in the next months - year the picture will become more clear as to which option is best for our needs.
And to get to the weight thing... i think we all should blame mitsu and japanese cars for really spoiling us with a light weight car. Not that the evo now is something that is so light its not even believeable, when compared to the previous evo models. But compared to most american sports cars...
I can go on for days about this. If you'd like to talk more about this feel free to contact me on AIM or somethign and i'd love to chat.
Take care!

I like driving fast. A stock C6 ZO6 ran my favorite track (Grattan Raceway) in the 1:26's. I needed almost 3 more seconds on street tires, and I have cams TBE and ECU tune.
If I didn't have 2 kids (and their college funds) I'd be in or waiting for the Vette right now.
It definitely has my respect!

I drove my friend's and was really amazed. It surpassed my expectations. Really an impressive car that was truly intoxicating. And yeah, he's in his fifties, still benches 315 and can squat 405 with good form.

This car is ok.. but for one thing, there are way better looking cars for that amount of money.
I just dont understand.. this car is completely unpractical, insanely fast.. poor gas mileage, no room, expensive to maintain etc... so wait, why not just spend half the money and buy something like Ariel Atom that is even faster? When you buy a car like this, you have gone beyond the relm of sanity.. so you might as well just get the fastest car available for the money which is not the z06.
