Yeah. Comin' from the same guy with the "Suby dog" that'll be laughing his *** off when he sees your car up on a lift with a blown transmission and burned out clutch as he drives by.

I'll even be nice and offer you a ride home from the garage.

Don't worry, bro. Pretty soon you'll have an STi/STI too if Mitsubishi Motors don't get their acts together and start turning profits. I surely hope they don't expect to the Evo to pull them out of the red. That would be like GM relying on the Corvette to pull them out of the red. Image cars aren't high sellers.

Of course I do!

Hey, the truth hurts. But don't fret, as I too am pulling for Mitsubishi Motors. I don't own a Mustang, but I wouldn't want to see Ford go down the toilet. I'd miss the Mustang, the same as I'd miss the Evo.

Right now, in production, there are only three AFFORDABLE cars that I would own, and those are the STi, Evo, and Mustang GT. It'll be four AFFORDABLE cars when the Camaro Z28/SS debuts.

Yes. I was looking to get a used 05 but after some research it seems they changed about 20 or so things (including looks). Not as drastic as 04->05 changes (about 45 of them) but still.
Stuff that matters (rest is looks/aero/interior):
06 has different center diff TQ split, supposedly now it does about 41:59 default front/rear versus the 35-65 on the 05 and earlier, they added steering wheel input sensor for DCCD to help with power (or tq?) distribution when cornering, and addition of new mechanical lsd to dccd, carbon plated synchros on 4th, 5th and 6th gear, different catback.
I think that's it as far as engine/drivetrain/suspension is concerned...

Im impressed with the torque and thats about it. That horsepower curve is awful. Peak HP @ 5500RPM then dropping down to 275whp @ 7000. A similarly modded EVO9 wil put down 70whp+ more at 7000rpm. Not impressed.

Proof? What proof? One dyno? Now STIs make stupid and crazy power on the stock turbo, sorry, gonna need more than that to sway my opinion. When the STI runs 11s on the stock turbo and pump gas than I'll be impressed. Dyno numbers are nice, but I hope Subaru owners aren't playing Dyno Queen games, I mean seriously there was an EVO IX that put out over 375whp with some bolt ons, do all EVO IXs put out that kind of power, of course not, mine certainly didn't. I just had a run in with an 06 STI stage 2 and protune, but down 289whp, and I pulled 3 cars. Oh wait I get it, that was a 06, the 07 are much different, ok what are the huge differences???? Look the STI is a very nice car, and I respect the car, and I am not saying it's not possible for an STI to put down that type pf pattern, but you need more than one dyno to start boasting claims or establishing patterns of 07 STIs making crazy and stupid power, this thread is just really stupid.

The track times will reflect its awful powerband for drag racing. Its going to be sitting up at 5500+rpm where its making less than 300whp. Those numbers are great for a little road course with a lot of turns.

I'm sorry I still just have a hard time believing this, especially when all the numbers are coming from ONE shop. Maybe it's the tune from Top Speed, maybe they are going for peak power, which sounds good, but like you said the cars are just crap up top. I mean in theory there isn't really any difference between the 07 and 06, but somehow ONE shop is getting higher numbers. I mean it just irritates me sometimes about EVO owners, that we are so suspicious and big skeptics when it comes to our own cars, but when it comes to others, oh it's all good. I just hold all cars to the same standards.

I've actually heard that the pre-06s handle better because it's easier to get the *** end out on them. I've never driven an '06, so I can't comment.

Oh, you mean just like this plethora of Evo IX MRs running 12s? Hmmm, like a buddy of mine's stocker, hmmm? I know for a FACT that his car doesn't run 12s. Period.

You had a run-in with an '06 STI making 289 whp on Stage II with a Pro Tune? What you should've told the owner is that he needs to find himself a new tuner.

What are the differences? Are you reading this thread, or are you just posting?

Sorry to hear that your car didn't make 375 whp on little bolt-ons. Just face it, dude. An STI simply put down good numbers, period. Do you really think the Evo is soooooo much more superior to the STi/STI when it comes to making power? The EJ257 is THREE years old. THREE. How much was known about the 4g63 when it was THREE years old? Hmmmm.

i didn't start this thread because i was worried about STis suddenly destroying us left and right, just noticed that they seemed to be making more power and people on this board are probably interested in that sort of thing.

This has to do with severl things. The only one of those that is hard to alter is the diff. The 04s were a little tail happy and some minor changes were made mostly in alignent. For example, to make the newer ones understeer more, factory camber is almost zero. It is actually within spec to have postive camber. Basically with a few minor changes, the newer ones handle equally and have a better steering rack mount.

Apparently that's not the case. We all know that Evos are the only cars on Earth that make gobs of power with little work.
