Still wouldn't trade a evo for it.

Those are some serious numbers, but I'm going to bet that with a tune like that, that car isn't going to last long. It's probably borderlined as far as reliability is concerned. That car is probably a hair away from detonation, and probably tuned to the max....with no room for error.

Great numbers, but I predict that it's a time bomb.

Since when does the stock STI turbo allow 400whp? was that a dyno jet it made that power on, because i thought the max HP out of a stock STI turbo was something like 350WHP on a mustang?

After i looked, it showed it.. 283WHP, 349TQ not to shabby, but still not comparable to the evo's... $/HP evo still better
Regardless, the proof is there. You can talk about how it's a 2.5L and this and that, but it also has an aluminum/aluminum block, whereas the 4g63 is iron/aluminum. Under most circumstances, iron is stronger than aluminum. The EJ257 also has an open deck design, while the 4g63 has a closed deck design. There are a lot of compensations for the 4g63's lack of .5 liter, or 1/4 of a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi. It's not that big of a difference. Just face the facts that it put out awesome numbers with next to no mods, but consider the tuning time that went into that car.

It happened, period. See my previous post for my opinions on the car.

good numbers but i have to think its tuned to the edge, reliability is definately going to be an issue. i just dont see a car making this much on barely basic bolt ons. reliabley.

Negative... I tuned that STI. It was no where near the ragged edge. I have a feeling the evo's are going to finally have some competion with the new 07's

The 06 can do similar results. I run the subytech STI and with just a turbo back and tune it makes insane torque. I am at 19psi by 3k rpm. Proper AVCS and boost tuning is all it takes. I am also working with only a custom OTS map. Next week comes the dyno tuning. Check out Subytech for results. I may be able to get so,me direct comparisons with an 07 with the same mods

it says he ran a 12.7@109 with that power. the numbers seem kind of iffy to me, especially with this trap.. i obtained that trap with 300whp and 315wtq on a dynojet.

He only made on pass, and then got kicked out for not having a helmet. I am sure with more practice the times will drop.

I guess all cars are different. I just dynoed my Cobb Stage 1 STi at Mach V and landed a whopping 242 whp and 272 lb/ft tq. Dan mentioned that the #s were pretty low, and that most stock STis were turning in between 240-250 whp and about 250 lb/ft tq. It all depends on the car.

I wasn't so irritated with my torque #s, but was fumed about the hp #s. FWIW, he also mentioned that on that particular dyno, stock Evos are only laying down about 225 whp. Maybe this Dynojet just reads low.

For more info on it, I posted my dyno graphs in the "Other Cars" area. I'm going to guess that with a custom tune my car could make near 260-265 reliable whp and 290 lb/ft tq without the tuner going "overboard."

Are there really that many differences between the 2005 and 2006-07 STis/STIs as far as ECU tunes and other parts? I didn't think there were many significant changes to them.....

He might get better ETs with more runs but his mph says it all. They make insane torque but it drops off really rapidly. Its still real hard for it to make top end. Still its pretty impressive numbers. Its about time they improved the performance of the car. It will give Sti owners something to look forward to and us some competition.

MPH also depends on the driver, for example my friend runs his car and traps 114mph, I get in the same car and run 119mph. Only difference is the driver.

You are absolutely right! I have a TD06 20g on my STI, put down 375whp and 400tq. I had one chance at the strip and I bogged really bad, after the bog I didn't try at all, trapped at 108. My car with a good driver is an 11 sec car all day, with 116-120 traps! It is all about the driver.
