The 07 STIs are apparently making stupid crazy power
Although I think road racing is way cooler then drag racing, the simple matter is that most people dont. So comparing dyno sheets and max HP numbers seems to be the name of the game. Even still your right, talk is cheap. But for this arguements sake, time slips should do the talking. nice # matt 250whp is sweet for just a catback.

Enough about sounds. Where can you go the fastest? In a straight line. Dyno-racing? No thanks.
well dude, sound is a personal preference. So I dont know if you will totally get the response you are looking for. They do sound awesome though. my cousins Z06 comes to mind. catless. longtubes, full exhaust. the rasp and pop is awesome. And yes nothign snaps you in place like tons of immediate torque of bigger displacement motors. For the money spent, the power and handling you get out of EVOS and STi's doesnt get any better. plus we have the added benefit of a awesome aftermarket support...this is where its at for me personally

Gotta love the immediate power of an American V8. I love the sound and linear feel of a turbocharged motor, but it just doesn't quite feel as pure as a normally aspirated motor. While the feel of a turbocharged motor is smooth, kind of like getting launched in a rollercoaster, the power of a normally aspirated V8 is like sitting on the back of a horse, and having him just take off while you dig in to hold on!
But yes, the Z06 definitely sounds badass. As for Evos and STis, you're right, for the money, they can't be beaten as all-round performers.
