The 07 STIs are apparently making stupid crazy power
oh thats awesome that C6's are that fast. I mean with such a small motor and all ( Insert sarcasm)...They better be going fast. wholy crap. 2 less drive wheel and more then twice motor and and considerably higher price tag. lets not compare apples and oranges. and as far as the LS1 F body. big deal. TQ out the A** and my 240whp was still as fast as an Fbody with longtubes and full exhaust in the higher revs/gears. 320-350 like you said are respactable numbers. My IX made 337/330 21 PSI (which isnt a ton of boost) no cams. but again. anyone who races know that numbers dont really mean a thing. the only number that counts is the one on the time slip.

And you're right, #s don't mean a thing.
Not to "call you out," but 280 whp isn't much (your signature). Not to mention, all this "power" that Evos seem to be "enjoying...." Between many of the people posting their dyno #s on this forum, I see an average of between 320-350 whp on well-modded cars. While they're respectable #s, that's still not a lot of hp.
Stock LS1 Fbodies make more whp than your "modded" Evo right off the showroom floor. Put an exhaust, lid, and tune on one and they make in the 320-335 whp range. C6 Corvettes are putting down 350 whp stock.
And what does posting on forums have to do with owning a fast car? Look at the average of the people posting on forums. They're between 20-25 years old. On this site, I'm probably considered an old man.

The cams were in the car when I bought it....plus a TBE exhaust and ACT clutch.
CLEARLY YOU AND I SEE DIFFRENTLY ON WHAT'S HEAVILY MODDED. I AM NOT MAKING ANY POWER, TRUE....SO EXPLAIN TO MY HOW I MANAGED TO KEEP UP WTIH A DUDE IN AN STI WHO CLAIMED HIM CAR RAN 10'S? SIMPLY PUT: THE DUDE WAS A LIAR! ALSO SWERVING INTO MY LANE SO I COULDN'T PULL ON HIM, C'MON. WE've spoken before so please don't think I'm attacking subie guys here.... Besides, it's not the cars but the owners who drive them that can be tools.
Regarding a well modded Evo..... see me in February and then you'll see a well-modded Evo that will be making hopefully 450ish whp (having a full GT35R turbokit, meth injection @ 28psi upgraded FMIC&piping, etc)
My car still has stock turbo 9.8 not 10.5 hotside, stock FMIC & piping, etc.....and I ran a 12.68 at 108 mph with a 1.822 60ft. I have the slip here but no scanner to upload. For only making 284 whp that's not bad, considering the 108mph trap is weak but so are these cams I have now!
PS; these 320/350 whp Evo dyno charts you keep seein are good enough for Evo guys to run high 11's low 12 second passes on stock turbos! Again, subie owners will FINALLY be able to enjoy what we've been pulling off on the regular!
Peace.

I hope the STI has the goods to compete, They need to step it up a bit. I am still kind of skeptical on how the new motor is going to hold up to power mods and if it will have the same great results like the 4G63.
ok the 240whp was refering to my old WRX that I mentioned in the last post. My mistake for not clarifying. But if you would have read the next sentence "My IX made 337/330 21 PSI (which isnt a ton of boost) no cams." that would give your prescious FBODY a run for its money. and back to the whole perception of whats highly modded. The reason this whole thread started was over an STI with similar mods. or as you put it " a good selection of parts and a better tuner" Thats all these evos are doing for the most part. TBE, drop in filter, FUEL pump, and a good tune can get you into low 12s. Petey EVO has jus those mods with ECU based boost control and ran 12 flat in an 05 MR. You want a hghy modded EVO, look at the guys running GT35's and meth making way over 400whp on stock motors. The C6 and Z06's are fast as hell, but there is something to be said about getting into an evo and for less then 2 grand giving him a run for his money. I dont care whether the guy losing in the vette couldnt drive it or not. It is and it isnt the point all at the same time. there are plenty of people who cant drive their cars as fast as they can be, but no one is making excuses around here except you. All your lame bench racing is, well, pretty lame. LIke I said before, the only number that matters is the one on your time slip for these kind of discussions. Z06 guy should maybe be faster, but if thats the best he can do, well too bad for him.
You internet thugs, who gives a fawk, talk is cheap, drag racing is cheap.
If you really want to prove yourself, go do some REAL road racing and beat whichever car you want to beat by numbers!
LOL

Even where the tune isn't on the ragged edge, unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case for the factory bearings where STis are concerned. I'm pretty certain that has been exposed as the weak link in these motors (which tend to experience bearing failures and let go without warning), so I'm curious to see how long this one stays together. Of course, I am assuming Subaru hasn't made a bearing switch, so that is FWIW.
Please keep us informed as to if the motor stays together.
