Anyway, I started hearing a knocking sound coming from the front end, which turned out to be hot-spotted rotors, but apparently one of the techs heard some noise coming from the diff when it was on a lift. They drained the fluid and found metal shavings.
The pinion bearing could've been replaced, but according to the dealership, Subaru told them to just put in an entirely new diff assembly because pinion bearing replacement was so labor-intensive, which cost them $1641. I also got 2 front rotors out of the deal, which set good ol' Subie back an additional $496.

Im impressed with the tq but the power band sucks! Look at the loss of power up top, its terrible.. I will admit that its an improvement over the previous models but i still dont see an STI running 11s on stock turbo til i see it with my own eyes.. That run with 108 traps doenst match the power the car put down on the dyno...
There was an STI here locally with a fp green making 430+whp and he ran 5 TIMES and his best was 12.6@ 108, so yet again the dyno numbers dont mean nothing compared to track times and mph
My friend has a IX with mbc, flash and exhaust and he raced an 07 STI that had more mods than him and the STI got walked.. Then he raced our other buddies Evo IX with same mods with the addition of a licp and the STI got beat yet again.. Oh and the 2 Evos were on pump and the STI was on a race gas map

Don't hate, you have more mods on your car than this STI and run slower times.
The Sti that ran 12.1 @ 113mph only has an intake, header, exhaust and tune. I think its a great improvement on Subaru's part, to be able to have a low 12 second STI for under 2 grand in parts.
Ofcourse the evo 9's are faster on the stock turbo, but like some else allready posted this is the other cars forum.

Maybe he also had "3 cracks in his manifold and a 1.860 60ft with no traction" too.
