2.0 liters. 300hp and 318ft lbs. Sounds like more boost, higher rev ability, stronger internals. Seems like Subaru is jumping into the fight swinging.
They've been fighting and swinging, since Day 1. Nothing like watching two of some of the best cars on the planet slugging it out. I'm tempted to claim that the rivalry between the STi/STI and the Evolution is more exciting than that of the Camaro Vs. Mustang rivalry.

Don't count the Evo out just yet. Remember, Toyota, who is devoid of having an ounce of "sport" in their blood just bought a large stake of Fuji Heavy Industries (8.7 or 8.9%, I believe), in which Toyota's influence will undoubtedly trickle down into future Subaru products. Enjoy the current STi/STI while it lasts, because you can count on Toyota to slowly casturate the STI in years to come.

Now, whether sources are correct (or not), I don't like the direction that the Evo X is turning.

1. Additional 200 lbs of weight due to "equipment upgrades" to make the Evo more "upscale"

2. "World motor" joint-development between Chrysler and even worse, Hyundai

3. Open deck motor design

4. Paddle-shift automatic to debut, and maybe followed by a 5spd manual for the standard models, and the 6 spd in the MR if there is an MR in the plans. It's the late 2000s, Mitsubishi. A 5spd is a thing of the very early 1990s.

The direction of the Evo really has me spooked, and well, for the STI, the writing is on the wall. I predict that this is Subaru's last "hurrah" for the STI, because the next one is sure to have a watered-down Toyota influence. I should just cash in my chips now, and buy a Camry.

There's nothing wrong with an automatic as an option. There IS something wrong with the automatic being the first one to debut, and a POSSIBLY a 5spd manual breaking ground in the following year. The 5spd isn't guaranteed.

If you're expecting the Lancer line to keep Mitsubishi afloat, you're sorely mistaken. What Mitsubishi should be doing is working on their mid-sized models, especially since younger buyers are already purchasing Lancers. As for the Evo, it's a halo car. It's not a high-volume seller. It's great if they sell like hotcakes, but don't count on it. The Evo is an advertisement for Mitsubishi.

The 350Z is a halo car as of right now for Nissan, until the GT-R comes out. Who cares if it's not a high volume seller? The fact remains if you have an auto option you will sell more, period, no matter what the car is. High volume or low volume, it does not matter, it will result in higher sales. What if a Viper has an auto? If it does the people that wanted to buy it, but did not because it was manual only, it would result in them to purchase it if there is an auto. Is that simple enough for you mister fanboy?

We weren't. This thread is about that nasty looking concept Subaru.

Gee, I'm sure everyone here is enamored by your faux concern. It'd be best to leave the heavy thinking to the engineers at Mitsubishi before drawing conclusions about what a 200 pound increas in structural integrity, a joint venture between three multi-billion dollar companies, and a very rudimentary description of an engine design in use by several manufacturers - can do to a car - and just wait until the X comes out before drawing any ignorant conclusions.

Not my taste but Subaru is not about any other type of racing other than WRC and most of the fastest WRC cars are hatchbacks.

Maybe they are tired of loosing to Sebastien Loeb and Citroen!

I came to no conclusion. I came to a speculation. Don't like it, don't read it. This is a discussion, and if you're not smart enough to participate without making ignorant statements to people just because you have a chip on your shoulder, then stay out of the thread.

Nobody needs you plaguing this thread with your rude comments. If you have a problem, you can continue to send me your stupid "your mom" PMs that you've been sending me for the past 4 months if it makes you feel better.

I'll be "Mr. Fanboy," "Captain Obvious." What you just posted is nothing short of groundbreaking....

Speculating and drawing conclusions about something that does not exist in it's 100 percent final form is like talking about how awesome sky diving is even though you have not sky dived. How do you know when you totally don't have a clue about anything? Come on man!

First off speculating is lame haha. It doesnt matter if its hyundai, or KIA if the engine performs and is better than the current evo then thats all that matters. Its all about the performance... who cares who made what and who thought of it. It is sad but there will always be fanboys around. The sti in those pictures aren't that bad... and those renderings might not even be 100% so we will see. Oh yeah and if people are defending the EVO guess what its an EVO forum. Go to nasioc and they **** on the evo all day, the fanboy status on that forum is also rediculous.

Yes, he really was....until I quit replying to him. He would literally PM-bomb me like 3x's per day unless I replied to him. Then he would just repeat his same insults. I would just reply to him, "Whatever you say, champ. Keep the insults comin'!"

I don't frequent NUTSAC, but from what I've seen, they don't bash the Evo all that often.

As for fanboy status, this forum has more than its share, just the same.
