I miss my IX some days, but I like my X just as much, only for different reasons. My VIII was just slightly the fastest of them all in a straight line (with mods), but it was an 03, and I agree with whoever said it was the worst US Evo. It was my least favorite of the three by far, and it had the most miles and seat time.

Those are not simple and cheap fixes + smaller turbo capacity etc and I can go on and on... We also compare stock cars. Everything is upgradable ... Pointless comment.

All I know of including myself got a synrco issues, and I had an 04...
Of course we all might not as good as those 03-04 evo 8 transmission needs...

One thing that doesn't get mentioned a lot is the smooth power delivery of the 4B11T motor. It might not have the power potential of the iron block, but it is a thoroughly modern engine with a comparatively butter smooth power delivery and relatively quiet operation out of the box.

Not necessarily things you are looking for maybe, but in a daily driver having that kind of refinement along with the performance is great.

Keep the VIII, is it paid off? I'm speaking on a POWER level and driver feel and I miss my VIII's interior and how much cheaper it was to make more power. I do however like how the X looks compared to the 8 & 9.

I would just keep it. It's healthy and has low miles, shes a keeper friend.

Never had a chance to drive a X. But I don't know if I could stand a 2 liter with 3500 lbs strapped to it

But X's sure are gorgeous cars. I may have to hit up a dealer this weekend to get a ride

............. Or maybe not because my IX just got paid off, I don't want to fall in love with another money pit

If I could get one down to around 3k without murdering the interior I would be all for it

My ix is 3090 with 3/4 tank. Probably more now with that buschur ic, but I haven't touched the sound detening, suspension, airbags/door crash beams ( I know it's not smart to do), or even gutted my trunk completely lol.

Damn , I Had mine weighed at a state metal recycling facility. They told me it was within 10-15 lbs specs. I didn't mean to fib if I did

Deleted/replaced pieces-

Spare tire/Jack/tools
stock seat brackets
steering column metal insert
front/rear crash beams
Deka 11.5 lb battery
chassis suport brace ( someone before me F'd them up)
front motor mount with lighter one
1 lb stereo head unit
floor mats
wingless

There is more... I think lol

I ran a 13.2 @ 103.8, 2.2 60ft :P, and 245whp with a super crap "Toon". 30lbs heavier then it is now....

well for racing you need to add weight too, like cage, fire extinguisher etc. So its like this: you take out some and you put in some. The main thing you should be under 3000 lb and you good. Some cases TA etc they run very low weight, but those cars wouldn't pass any inspection what i do. And those cars are not even close as safes as mine if the crash happens. They also running very controlled environment.
What i am saying here is this. The X can be just as light as the older cars for my type of race so the Weight there is not an issue. Yes it is a bit harder to get there , but is not that much of the issue as many people thinks.

That is basically what i am saying. My X was a little gutted around lower 3200 lbs , before we build the race car out of it. Not too bad.

Continuation from my original thread:

I would get the X GSR due to the 5 speed manual, the ratios are not highway-friendly, but hell, my 09 lancer isn't any better, I'll consider buying a black x GSR and fooling those who dont pay attention to differences in cars.

The IX and the VIII issue: yes a bunch are for sale, but its risky because their car history could be in the hands of 4 previous owners (for example)

I like the handling that the 09 ES Sport I have delivers, despite being a stock 5 speed. the X GSR would only add to the experience, but most people like the "raw" in the older Evo's, I figure I might have to try to experience that someday.

Any chance that a 6 speed X- GSR tranny is in the works by aftermarket companies ? Just wondering.
