Agreed. I could no way in hell give up my VIII for a X but would def own a X also.

May buy one used a couple years down the line. We'll see.

Love the power of the IX and the looks. Don't care much for the rear end of the X.

The '08+ models should be considerably safer.

Beyond that...let the flame war begin.

Evo X is quieter (relatively speaking), safer (in terms of bulk and weight) and more comfortable for a family and a baby. If you are really considering your family as a factor in this decision, the Evo X is the right choice.

If you want the better performing car, get an Evo IX GSR.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll take that fork in the road. On another note, to me...the 9 body style is sexy as **** whereas the X is ugly stock to me but if you throw on new shoes and just lower her...what a world of difference in looks! I the only one that feels like this? Lol

drive them both. I went from a IX MR to an X SE, and after 2 months, I'm ready to jump ship to BMW. I drove the IX MR for 178,000 miles before I sold it. I honestly can't see myself in this car for much longer. That said, it's personal preference. Some people love the X over the IX, but for me, I wish I had kept my IX...or just bought the BMW instead of the X in the first place.

You have a kid, as a father all you need to do is look at the crash ratings and that the X has rear curtain airbags and the lancer is a "safest choice" by iihs. This shouldn't be a Convo unless your kids not going to be in the car... Sorry, it's the dad in me...

I went from a IX MR to the X. Best choice I ever made. As a DD the X is FAR superior. It's just so much more refined. I think it still drives great compared to the IX and has that razor sharp super responsive feel to it. They make great power with minimal mods too. If you are the family man, the X is the way to go.

Comes down to personal preference really. I had a IX before my X and you couldn't pay me to go back.

If you're really into safety of your kids/baby, get a mini van or SUV. With same safety features, the bigger the better. I don't mix hobby with the safety of my family...but it's just me.

Drive them both, and then decide which you would perfer. If you like a more engaging relationship with your car, I would go for the CT9A. I may be biased.

As far as safety, it is all relative to the nature of the impact. I work in the insurance industry, and have seen all types of accidents including fatals.

Insurance crash ratings don't mean squat if you are traveling at freeway speeds and wrap it around a poll, or if you are rearended by a loaded semi, regardless of the type of passenger vehicle you are in from large suvs to subcompacts.
