Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
Damn. Thats was a lot of good input on the X and the IX. I see why people stick to the 9 or go 10.. more along the lines of performace for the 9 and DD type stuff for the 10. Very interesting. My preferece is the 9 based on looks at the momment.
i wouldn't go that far - ultimately performance really depends on how deep your wallet is. most people who like the 8/9 just prefer the character of the ct9a
I'm going to be buried in my 8. Too much money in mods, miles, and my own hours working on her to let her go. Plus she's paid off.
I had considered a X, but after driving one, I realized that it doesn't satisfy the "what coudl I buy as a replacement for the 8" jones I was getting. I actually don't know what kind of car will replace the 8.
After driving the X, I would buy a NA BMW for a sporty DD before a X.

I'll stick w/ VIII...
I had IX and driven modded X many times. Just too way linear power deliver for me. It just took the fun out of rushing sensation of forced induction.
For me, it feels like riding a sports bike when I'm in my VIII with the sensation of racing versus too refined and insulated IX or X. And, the X was way too heavy for me. Really, there's no comparison.

One point against the DD nature of the X - the trunk is minuscule compared to the IX's. In general, fuel economy of the X is also not as good as the IX's. Otherwise the X is a more refined and bearable car for everyday and long distance driving - but that's not why you bought your Evo for anyway, right? I would stick with the IX.

The X has a more responsive turbo, its quieter, has cruise, better stereo, safer, etc. Also the X seems a little better in the drivetrain department. I hate feel the shift weight of the engine and drivetrain in the IX. You don't feel that in the X. Also, you can't be the Super AWC. Weight or no, it's just amazing to me.
The IX is a better fun, track car and I love driving it every day. I owned a X for 2.5 years and just sold it recently. I had to do it to help me lower fixed costs when buying a business or I never would have. Now I am back in a nine that I'm fixing up. I love all Evos.
I have a Vlll and was lucky enough to drive my friends X.
It is a very nice car. Completely different from the CT9A.
The interior is better, as is the noise insulation and ride quality.
With that being said it makes a much better car for driving daily, hauling kids, and long trips.
I wouldn't understand why someone would buy one for weekend driving/track use when they are an expensive toned down version of the 8/9.
For a fun/track vehicle you cannot beat a CT9A.
