Honestly, at first I was fine with my decision and was happy to have a quiet, more luxurious evo. Well, it got boring quick and I soon found myself missing the rawness, loudness, and econobox feel of my IX. (I had a IX MR btw)

The X handles like a dream and can fit some bad *** wheel sizes. I still think the X looks faster sitting still and has some incredible lines. Unfortunately, it just didn't do it for me after a few months. I had the X lowered and sitting on some Enkei RPF-1's. One of the worst attributes of the X is your peripheral vision. I felt very limited in what I could see in the X. You sit very low and the window edges are very high. It was difficult to get used to and I never fully trusted the mirrors.

I also could never get comfortable. In my IX, I would rest my left elbow on my driver's side door panel. In the X, the steering wheel is too far forward with a comfortable seating position. I'm 6' tall just as a heads up. My arm had to be relatively straight to hold the wheel so my elbow couldn't reach the door panel. THIS BOTHERED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME. Silly yes, but it's true. Having a trunk the size of a shoe box also was not very accommodating. I made it work but compared to the CT9A trunk, it sucked.

My IX was the loudest thing on the block and I loved it. My buddy macPSU has an equally loud X and it's equally bad *** sounding but it just wasn't for me. So rather than try to compensate and try and make the X like my IX, I decided to sell it while it was still relatively stock.

Currently, I am on the hunt for a VIII to make my own. CT9A is my Evo of choice.
be honest.. you missed the rear wiper too lol

I wouldn't. IMHO the Evo IX MR is the 2nd best Evo ever made. the Evo 6.5 TME being the best. The Newer Evos are OK to live with but in terms of performance, stick with the 4G63, you have the proper Evo.

Evo VIII & Evo IX Only

That's if you diggity the "Rally Look" of AWD Monsters.

i think Richard Hammond said it best for me "The Mitsubishi 'Did You Spill My Pint?' and the Subaru 'You! Outside, Now!'"

Been thinking of doing the same. Either an X MR or maybe a Sportback ralliart for a daily. Not getting rid of the IX though, thats the play car.

A full TBE bolt on that you can DIY will change your impression of the power, untuned. X was a lame compromise of power vs noise. Open it up, it leans out a bit for more power and economy. vroom. The X stock is just too quiet and its muffling seriously cripples its power curve.

both of them are awesome. only reason i would get a x is because it has a different body from the previous generations. but i will never trade in my ix. once i have it paid of going to get a x right away. =]

Started with an 8, went to a 10, and then ended up with a 9 SE. The 10 was definitely a very capable car, but it is a very different car compared to the CT9A. Very comfortable, looked awesome with a nice set of wheels, and turned extremely well out of the box.

Aside from the problems I had with my 10, it really was a great car...but it didn't feel like an Evo. After climbing back into a CT9A I decided that they are going to end up burying me in this car.

I would not buy a X. This thread got me curious, so I found the kelly blue book for my car with 32k miles and compared it to similarly equipped 2008 evos. My ix MR has a private part value of $26,600. The 08 GSR has private party value of $25,700 The MR is 28700, but the Auto Tranny makes it hard to compare apples to apples. Because I like stick, I would not buy an MR if I did get a X, while many more people can drive the new MR, so the value is higher for people who cannot use their left feet. An 06 GSR is $24,700. I think the MSRP for a X GSR was more than $1000 higher than MSRP for a ix GSR, so the ix's seem to be holding value better.

The biggest issue is that the X wasn't an improvement over the IX, it just wasn't. They put it in a cleaner package, but that's about it. The biggest improvement IMHO is Cruise Control!!!

If they gave it a true evolution, like 350HP, a proper 6 speed, hell maybe even a 2.2, something. But they didn't.

Yes Sir! hold on to that IXs but if you can add a X to the stable by all means go for it
I see you got quite the collection,Dallas J, with the addition of a Final Generation Evo as
a DD then youd be complete man, I know I would to.

Agreed, the aftermarket catalog is just getting started on the X, iam sure it can still be as capable as the previous.

all i think it needed was more power stock. the other stuff was all an Evolution in my book, including the addition of the SST. it evolved with NEW technology, and one of the most praised transmissions on the planet. it just needed more power to offset the weight
