Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
going back to the original question ... i would not give up my 8 .. for a X ... i bought zona @ end of 09 .. haven't mod it a lot .. just fix some things .. i guess im really into the car .. i wonder what the evolving people are going to do ones the evo's stop production ??? they say x is the last evo .. as for me ill be the 80 year old man .. with the ly evo 8

Rob, that has to be one of the sickest Evo IX's I have ever seen. What an amazing build. So cleanly and professionally done. I want moar pics of your X so that I can continue my drooling.
I had originally started off on a Evo X gsr.. was very disapointed... I just picked up a 2006 Evo 9 MR and i am very please i may have just found my most favorite daily driver... Evo 9 MR worth every pennie some minor mods if you must for some unique touch but hands down over both of those car Evo9.. i have driven the evo 8 and the evo X mr and i think evo 9 hands down wouldn't trade it for anything else i found them to be the best drive and for stock vs stock obviously MR over Se...
Compared to other cars i'v ehad i think i found the first car i will keep for a long time to come!!!... Owned - 2001 Acura Type R, 2008 Audi a4 sline, 97 240sx Sr20 380whp - 540whp, 98 240sx ls1, 96 Pre Lude, 2001 Vette, a few acura gsr some fun track day mods, 03 330ci, 93 rx7, few truck hear and there... I have driven anything from a R35 to a gt3 Porsche any a 68 Camaro this is one of my favorite cars i have had as a daily i choice this car over a 2012 Audi S4
...
HAnds down 06 Evo 9...
Evo X has a more luxurious feel to it the sight and sound package was nice but it lacked in performance... Was very disapointed in the car at first...

This is what I am having a lot of trouble deciding on. In a few months I will without a doubt be in an evo. I owned an evo 8 for a year that had nothing but problems, regardless the 4g63 was awesome when going through the gears. I'm going to keep it relatively stock for a little while, which would be a better car if it was your only car?

My X is my only car; I have a 11mpg F250 and a wife with an Avalon I got her... I put the X next to the Toyota in reliability. But the Avalon has 150,000 miles in 15 years next to a 4 yr old X with 75,000.... It is what it is. Keep it closest to stock, richest you can, problems diminish. Can you imagine how unreliable a toyota would be at 30psi and 15 AFR?

EDIT: Installing a POS air filter this weekend, the KN is too easy flowing, with valve tappets getting out of spec, time to cure the "POP" with a more restrictive air filter til I get around to having it down for days to have new tappets installed.
EDIT2: In honesty and fairness, the X GSR isn't flawless. I have a notchy 2nd gear more than 1/2 the time and 3rd gear notchy when really cold. I think I broke an exhaust mani tracking it also, has a still-undetermined noise that I can only hear on the inside of the car and only under an idle or 2k @ 5-10mph or under, knocking or exhaust. Runs like a scalded cat and I've had no mechanical or engine issues at all and have about 30 track days (many were 2 days) in HPDE's with my X GSR with a 5 spd. I do 100% of my maintenance.

A laundry list of them. Had the entire car rewired, fouled out injectors, starter went bad, crank and cam sensors went bad, o2 sensor went bad.. owned it for a year it ran for about 2-3 weeks in the entire time I had it. This makes me kind of want to try out an X and avoid the 4g63 evos..
