EVO vs. s2000... RELIABILITY!
. After 9 years of production they need to retire the s2000. Ill be sad to see it go but Honda is planning a new platform to replace it with. They honestly haven't even been selling well in the last two years anyway. You can lease one for 350m right now though. Anyone interested hit me up!
Then I'd probably pick one up again in the future as a little weekend/fair weather cruiser. I loved our old one to death.
I love my Evo, don't get me wrong... but honestly, if I was a shorter person and could fit in an S2000 comfortably, I'd probably be rockin on right now. AND be a track *****. And if the dealer tried to 'pull my warranty' for that, i'd just tell them "Dude, it's a Honda!!! Take your warranty and shove it up your ***!"
wow... this is sooooo wrong in so many ways!! When you compare Mitsubishi to Honda so generally, you're taking in consideration their whole fleet of cars, customer service, reliability, warranty ... etc. Be careful how word your statement, cause as it is, it's flat out wrong!. Honda trumps MOST car manufacturers on all the above stated and more. Hell, even the distributors treat the dealers better. With Honda, it's a long line of satisfied people all the way back to the assembly line. With Mitsubishi, come on... seriously? No comparison.

I know a guy that had to spend $3000 to fix his motor. I think he blew it up..lol. Miss shift. I'm not sure, he actually may have got a new motor put in. Also his check engine light would always come on and he'd get it checked over and over again.
Miss shifts are super common in the S2000... and so are damaged motors from miss shifts. Car revs to 8-9k (depending on whether it is an AP1 or AP2) and has a really short throw, and the gears are tight. Missing the "gate" for 3 and going into 1 is really easy. Problem is that people are used to their large throw shifters (think Evo) and then get into an S2000... They're used to shifting with their hand wrapped tightly around the knob as though to pull it off, which is great for powering your long throw through the motions, but awful for precision movements. People think the way I shift is weird (from learning to race-shift the S2000) but it always goes into exactly the gear I want, on just about every manual car I've driven.
Take care of your cars and they will take care of you. Both engines can be durable as long as they aren't abuse. Clutch can last 60000 miles on the Evo as long as you don't abuse them, same can be said for the Hondas.
It is a matter of proper maintenance and good driving ethics.
