My new 200 mph ride
Rob, I actually went to the track indeed. Unfortunately and as always team SIR did not announced on their website that you could only run on slicks.I showed there on time in the morning and couldn't get to pass the techs.
The only positive thing I got was to weight the car, it weights 3154lbs with just a hair under half gas tank. I could only run my vette if I was a member/afiliated to a local club(rpmcorvetes) and they were charging $40 to run.
Anyways, there is a great chance that I will be driving to Phoenix and try it there, at least they don't stink like SIR.

Seems like every year there is something new. They are having a grudge night here in Roswell, NM Friday night if you want to drive six hours to race. You can crash at my pad if u want.
The gas mileage on HWY is great, people reported 28-29mpg cruising at 75mph at 1600rpm in 6th gear. On the other hand, the insurance is significantly cheaper than on a Evo by almost one third. It is the old say: You give ,you take!! I am saving in insurance.
Summarizing, there is not much of a difference in gas mileage between the Evo and the Z06(you are talking about 2-3mpg in town) .
Obviously I which the car was better on gas mileage but it is way better than many of its competitors: GT500,Ford- GT,Viper,Ferrari 430,Lamborghini,Porsche turbo,GT3 or even the GTR. If it wasn't because of the light weight and very tall gears this car would do really bad on gas mielage due to the 7011cc displacement, fortunately, the engineers addressed the gas mileage issue.

Many a magazine testers rated the 600Hp Viper to be a better performance car but not road car. The Lambo certainly pulls harder up top, it hits 222MPH. The GTR is faster plain and simple yet over priced due to Stealorships. I still thing the Ford GT is better IMHO certainly better looking

^^ Highpsi,
When I made the comments that it was better than its competitors I was refereing to gas mileage. I wasn't saying that the Z06 was better overall, I was just refering the comment strictly related to gas mileage.

Well, I know many of you really enjoy the updates. I installed a Halltec air filter(this is the biggest air filter I ever seen, it is humongous, way to big(a foot an a half wide). It clearly shows that the ls7 just like the Evo engines reacts very well to mods.
I am getting a set of LGpro headers installed as we speak then I will take the car back to the dyno for a tune. I am aiming for 49x whp just like other owners are getting with the same identical mods.
I was underneath the car on a lift helping with the install and noticed that the exhaust piping is ridiculously fat, 3" piping each bank from factory and it goes like that all the way back to the mufflers.

Good choice on the intake.
Also a note on the exhaust. That is why I told you that a lot of guys stay with the stock exhaust. Once you intall those headers things are going to get louder for sure and if you do a cam then OH what a pretty sound LOL!
You would only need to get a new exhaust if you where to port the heads and then you would see even more gains out of this set up.
Keep the updates going. I'll let you know what gains mine makes after I have the cam and headers installed. I'm going with the QM600 cam and American racing headers.
Port the intake and TB next beleive me you will see some nice gains on top of what your already doing. OH and get the Vette -Air a cheap mod that keeps the motor cooler.
Take care

Not yet. ^^Rob and fellow forum members, thanks for keeping the interest, it is a pleassure to inform you guys on the progress...
I installed the LGpro headers and a Halltec air filter. Additionally I removed the fuse that controls the rear muffler butterflies(removing the fuse keeps them open). It took me less than a week to retake the car to the same dyno and the numbers are in.
The car is making 470.44whp and 449.66lb-tq (Dynojet on 91oct) with the addition of the 2 mods. The car is not even tuned yet (I will get it tune on Wednesday). The typical gains with a tune are around 20-30whp extra with the same mods that I have but I always settle with the lowest numbers(I am always conservative).
The WHP gains were around 32-33whp extra in some large sections of the rpm and an average of 20lb-tq in some areas as well. The butterflies mod really made a big difference in the lower mid rpm (up to 3800rpm) it really free up a lot of hp. Also, keep in mind that I did not cheat and I am running full cats, I could have seen a few extra hp catless.
The car needs a thermostat mod ASAP as I discovered and also has been suggested that the engine makes more power with the cooler thermostat.
I will keep you guys updated.

Forgot to ask. How does it sound with the headers and open butterfly valve?
470 rwhp without a tune...those are very good numbers..should get another 20-30 more with the tune and more importantly more torque.

I am trying to make a little video. The butterfly mod takes 10sec max to get done and 10 sec to retrofit back to stock.
