My new 200 mph ride
yea most dealers warranty everything on them...hell I did 10+ autox's with it and did atleast 10 runs each times between me and codrivers and at the end of the season I went to the dealer and they replaced the tires
can't beat that...at the time I had vararam, kooks headers and a predator programmer...

Be careful not to try and reach 200mph. I have seen alot of z06 owners have the roof tear off the car @ no more than 65mph. I guess that's gm engineering for ya. It's still a sweet respectable ride though.
I vividly recall the first 2001 Z06s having oil comsuption issues. There is always a flaw regardless of how well the car is made or how expensive is.

The zo6 is never a bad choice. What a same the gtrs are being over priced. NIssan intended to sell the car @ 70k. And at that price it is the best deal in auto history. Even @ 100k its a better deal (performacne wise) than anythign else.
I wouldnt even mod the zo6. Its super fast stock, and nearly impossibel to master for a normal human. Take it on the track and see if you can try to master it stock first! My goal is to one day ge tone of those beasts ans attempt to master it.
Good luck!

^^^I was impressed to say the least with the people at this dealer. It is perhaps the first dealer that I had experience in which they actually encourage you to mod it"under their modding path", I just can't forget the quotes they told me: here is my car and whenever you are ready to put some headers, exhaust and air filter give us a call....
I don't see spending money in a supercharger now but here are my 3 power options:
1) Lingenfelter stage I for $4995 (labor included) puts the car in 600hp
2) Long tube header, air filter, cam, exhaust, tune 600hp and also about $5000(labor included)
3) Supercharger($6000-$7000) 600-625hp
I am trying to dominate the driving style on this car first. 505hp on a rear wheel drive car is already a challenge, I want to become familiar with the existing power then add some mods later.

I would say you are right on about getting used to drivng it stock for a while.
A few suggestions from myself and a whole bunch of guys over on the Corvettefourm Z06 section about a few things to maintain on your new Z06 that needs attention.
1. If you haven't joined the stie already then I would do that asap and read about the Z06 and all the little things about maintaining and driving your Z. It isn't that hard to maintain but this way you won't make any mistakes that you are not aware of as a new owner and the dealer may not know or tell you.
2. After 500 miles have the Service Dept check your axle nuts and they should be at 16 lb's FT. On some cars they come loose I have mine checked about every 2000 miles...so far no issues.
3. A very important thing is to check your clutch fluid often. The fluid will get blk and it needs to stay clear. Search the thread that Ranger posted on this issue on the site it is the best step by step of how to keep your clutch in the best condition as this is a weak spot on the Z as you will find out. It is easy!! BTW he is the guy that ran the 10:85 on a stock Z06 with just DR's and his clutch is still the original one from the factory!!
I would look at some other options as far as mods go.
The first thing is find a good tuner with a dyno in your area who uses HP tuners! It is the best way. Don't go with a preadator tune they suck!! Most guys on the site will confirm that.
Do your mods step by step and watch your gains. It is more fun that way.
First mods are usually Intake and Dyno tune!! look on the site and find a high perfomace shop in your area that does Vettes. I know there is a good shop I just can't remember their name.
First off the halltech Killer Bee is the best intake out there and I wouldn't go with anything else. Jim hall is the best to work with and he is right near Katech and they use his intakes on all their builds. They have color matched ones now! Go to his web site.
Next I would go with Ported TB and intake and also install a Vette - Air! From Quality Motorsports/Vette - Air in Dallas TX. Google Vette - Air and talk to Carlos he is a great guy ( funny as hell ) and very infomative. He is also the guy that ran a 9:80 @ 140mph with only a Intake a tune and a 100 dry shot! His screen name on the Vette forum is MYHARDTOP you can't miss him. They have a killer QM600 cam that is the hottest one out there right now. Guys are making 600rwhp with this cam and AMR Headers....Ah headers that is the great debate which one is best! I think that it all depends on what your planning to do with the car. Track or drag or a little of both. American Racing headers for Drag racing as most would agree and probably the best all around header. LG or Kooks if your planing on tracking the car in some HPDE's. All the three I mentioned are good...stay away form the rest. I'm going with ARH on mine and Carlos QM 600 cam. Already did everything else I mentioned above. BTW I would stay with the Stock Exhaust as you don't see very little gain over stock. For now just unplug the little chip in the floor and it will stay open all the time. If and when you put in a Header and cam package and you still want it louder then I would look at an after market exhaust. I like Borlas cause there light...but very loud ..BB fusion's cause they have a flap just like stock. Open they are loud and closed they are fairly quiet. Corsas seem to be the most popular cause they cause no Drone! Bassani's are used on more Mustangs than Vettes but to each his own.
Car is so much faster with some simple bolt ons. I wouldn't go with that package from LPE! It is a good one but it doesn't make the power that you could get for less money! The cam is kinda mild. I have 2 local guys that have it. In fact I just talked to LPE and they are coming out with a more aggressive cam like the QM600but he couldn't give me a time or date yet. LG has a GX 3 and 4 that are laying down some good numbers also.
BTW your gas milage will not go down as much as you think beleive me I can't even notice a difference in mine.
Next mod is to port the heads but I would wait on that for a while if I were you.
Also a note there is a new Z06 specfic clutch coming out in late March ( just talked to Evan ) from Exedy. They have been tested on some TT 1000+hp Vettes and he said it drives almost like stock so I'm waiting on that one for sure.
It is great that your dealer is a mod -friendly one! I have the same situation here1 Like yours they are always wanting me to do more things to my car
They also install the LPE package but have to get the car tuned at a local shop that works on Corvettes and they are very good. I'm very lucky to have them close by.Well sorry for the long post but I thought I could help!! PM me if you like. BTW my screen name on the Corvetteforum is " Wanderer Z06" . Also there are 3 sites for Corvettes that are good ones but just like Evom is the biggest for Evos so is the http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeromain the biggest and most active in the Corvette world. You probably already knew this but thought I'd give you a heads up.
I know your going to love the car the more you drive it and that is a true sign of a very good car.
The best of luck with your new Z!
