Good god, 340 miles of commute every day would pretty much make me kill myself.
for one, there's no such thing as a cheap apartment out here, and for two i didn't want to leave my girlfriend at the house by herself at night 170 miles away. all my family is there, and they could help her out if she needed something, but if something happened to her while i was gone...nah, no way i was gonna let anything like that happen. the driving was tough, but you do what you gotta do. i also did it because i only planned on working at that place until a job closer to home opened up, but then they gave me a huge pay raise, and the people are amazing at this new place, so i decided to sell the house and move. it was only supposed to be for a month or so, then it turned into 7 months. it was a lot of factors that i don't really feel like getting into right now because honestly, it's none of your business. that, and i'm surprised that people don't realize that there's a reason for everything people do. just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean there wasn't a good reason behind it. the 340 miles actually didn't bother me much. i got used to the drive, and i just love driving. it was like a road trip every day. the only thing i didn't like was putting all the miles on my car, and spending so much money on gas, tires, brakes, oil changes, etc, and not really getting any enjoyment out of it.

I failed to read that "LA" part of your profile before. I think my post came out the wrong way in any case. I wasn't intending it to be a rip on you, more of a "wow, I can't believe you commuted that far for that long". More power to ya. =)

mine was one of the first as well. i got mine in october of 05. i called every dealership in louisiana, texas, mississippi, and arkansas. i wanted the first graphite gray MR that hit. houston was the first place to get'em. i got mine about 12 hours after it hit the lot.

well the LA part is Louisiana. i lived in southwest louisiana, then i moved to the baton rouge area, and nothing is cheap out here. nothing's cheap in either place actually. ever since the hurricane, property values have sky rocketed because of all the displaced people with large insurance checks ready to buy houses. there's also been a ridiculous amount of expansion and growth in my home town. for example, you take two identical houses, put one in southwest LA, and the other in houston texas, and the louisiana home will sell for anywhere from 75-100k+ more than the houston house. nuts...but it's actually going to help me when i sell my house because i got it pretty cheap

I bought my '06 IX MR SE a little over a year ago and I now have almost 18,000 miles on mine. I daily drive my Evo, but mostly in the city. It's so much more fun driving in the city...through all those winding/curvy roads. Unfortunately city roads have strict speed limits and extremely strict police cars with "funny" looking officers with laser guns pointing right at you.....DARN IT!!! Anyways, I try to be careful on putting too many miles on my Evo, but than again, most of the time I also say......THE HELL WITH IT!

i'm still wondering if i'm the first to cross the 100k mark in an 06 EVO IX? at the rate i'm going, i'll likely be the first to cross the 200k mark haha

nissan is doing a thing with the 350Z's where they are taking a selected few owners' high mileage Z motors out and tearing them apart for high mileage wear analysis, and giving them brand new motors of the same generation as the one that gets pulled out. a buddy of mine is having this done in a week or so. i wish Mitsubishi would do something like that with mine lol

101k is impressive! Mine is 2003 Evo 8 that I bought in Apr/04 and it's at 16500 miles. I guess I don't drive it a lot.
