well when i go out driving i don't do anything particulary reckless or unsafe. i just enjoy driving. i'm not out there driving at 10/10ths or anything. i just use a safe percentage of the cars potential. you can have a lot of fun driving and still be no where near the limits of the car.

as far as tickets, i've gotten 3 speeding tickets in the past 7 months, but none of them have been while i was out driving the EVO hard.

one i got while doing 25mph in a 45mph zone... i had just turned from a stop sign, wasn't even out of first gear yet. i got pulled over, left the stop with a ticket for speeding, careless operation, and modified exhaust. all 3 tickets got thrown out, and i filed a complaint against the officer for harrassment.

the other two tickets i got, one i was driving my mom's honda element back from mississippi because i had to go out there to get tranny fluid for the car because they were the only mitsu dealership that had any, and they wouldn't let me pay for it over the phone so i couldn't ship it. on the way back my speed crept up on me a bit, and i got pulled over for doing 6mph over the limit.

the other ticket i got was going back home from an autocross in another city. i took at back road highway that i'd never driven on before, and i thought the speed limit was 70mph...well the speed limit dropped to 55mph for like 200yards, and a cop passing me in the other direction turned around, followed me for like 5 miles, then pulled me over and gave me a ticket for speeding. i had both tickets reduced to non moving violations though.

so i do not drive in a reckless manner on the street, and definately not in traffic. when i go drive, it's usually late at night in places where i'm the only guy on the road, and even then i push hard, but not so hard that i run the risk of losing control and wrecking my $40k car.

Thanks for assuming what method I used to quantify your fuel costs. Clearly if you had been using any sense of reasoning you would have realized that I was using secret government spy satellites to review your driving history and conditions of travel.

Either way you burned through a spy satellite calculated 1960 gallons of fuel in your "boring highway runs" confirmed by your estimated distances and blew about $7.3k on fuel doing so. I forgot that money and space don't grow on trees in California like they do over here in BUFU Chicago. My bad.

i make sure to keep up the maintenance on it. change the oil every 5k miles, royal purple w/mobil 1 filter, change diff/tranny fluids according to the book, etc. so far the only problems i've had are light bulbs burning out

I got an 05MR. 15K on it. NOT daily drivin FTW. Sittin pretty, no rust or corrosion really to speak of. Not driving it on the winter Chicago streets with all the damn salt will keep it in good shape.

It WILL be a track only car, may take a couple of years though.
