I usually don't post much, but I have to agree here. Almost every ambystom01 post that I read sounds trollish.

Coming from someone with 77 posts, that hurts. How am I actually trolling, by not saying the Evo is the greatest car ever made?

Thanks for proving my point. Slamming my post count is a classic troll move.

I already stated that I do not post much. The number of posts do not measure how much I read.

Yep, sure is a classic troll move. I'm such the stereotypical troll given that I've been here for years, I've contributed plenty to the forum and I continue to help people, in fact I've received several PMs in the last few days alone regarding a harness install. But no, you're right, I'm just a troll .
Edit: You didn't even answer the question, what am I doing that's considered trolling? Have I insulted the Evo? Have I bashed the Evo? I've posted results, oh no, what a troll thing to do.

I think people are just mad that the Cobalt steals a little of the Evo's (best value for the speed) thunder. Now I am only talking a completely stock Evo vs. a stock Cobalt. We all know a modded Evo will hit a point where the Cobalt can't compete due to its drivetrain. The Evo has been the monster killer that could take out much more expensive cars but only cost $30K. Now you have a car for $22-23K that is on par with the Evo or could be (strike me dead now) be faster than the Evo on some courses.

Exactly, some Evo owners sound like domestic owners when the topic of the Cobalt is discussed. The Cobalt is to the Evo what the Evo is to the Corvette, a cheaper car that offers close to the same performance on paper.

Wtf!!!

The cobolt is good for smeone that cannot afford anymore than what a cobolt cost, but the difference between the two doesnt really have to do with how fast it goes its all about the suspension the brakes the Yaw control the ACD control the ALL WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL OF THE ROAD. If you only have enough money to buy a cobolt fine I am not knocking anyone for being smart, but you cannot compare please!!!!!!! The cobolt has no racing heritage and well the Evo does thats my two cents worth...

I would agree that the cobalt is a great car, especially for the money, gas mileage, and performance. But keep in mind that it is something like 700 lbs less and is FWD. Fill it up with 700 lbs of concrete and things should even out a bit.

The AWD of the RA / Evo's make them great cars when come hell or high water, you're getting up that mountain. I know I bought my RA because I go snowboarding, mtb'ing, and backpacking a lot. I needed something that could handle snow, gravel, mud, and sand on top of tarmac. I also wanted something sporty. On top of that, I needed something with a decent amount of room. In that category, there really aren't many sedans out there that can perform that function save for the RA, Evo, 328xi, c300 4-matic, wrx, sti, is250awd, and g35x.

The cobalt, I'm not denying, is a great car but when things get wet, slippery, muddy, snowy, and sandy, I would hesitate to take that out over the Evo. Like some people have mentioned, they're comparing a lot of awd cars together with fwd/rwd cars. I wouldn't even consider it in the same category, apples and oranges.

Just my $0.02.

I'd say that about the C6Z06, not the Evo.

Ohh wait GM is closing down dealers and will stop building these clown butt ugly American cars. So how will you service your SS crap now I don't care how fast a car will go in a straight line or not, but I will never buy an American car if my life depended on it.

Japan and Europe for the win.

Proof, or are you pulling this out of your ****? Look at how many cars the vette beats on the Ring.

And what is a Cobalt with a good driver? I used numbers from the same magazine to keep it fair. I knew you would raise the 12 second stock issue.
I love how everybody plays the "they can't drive card" as if the Evo has to win.
Oh no, a cheaper car used the same formula that made the Evo famous (spend all the money on performance bits). You guys are starting to sound like insecure domestic owners.

i don't know how much more simply i can explain this. on a dynojet, EVO IX's put down anywhere from 260-270+whp stock depending on the dyno/conditions, etc. the Cobalt SS WILL NOT put that much power to the wheels on a similar dyno.

also, i don't have to ask anybody about dyno's. i know how they work, it's not rocket science. the dyno's AMS and Buschur use are adjustable load dyno's, so depending on how they have it setup, the numbers could be anywhere, but the bottom line is, no matter what dyno you put the two cars on, the EVO WILL PUT DOWN MORE POWER THAN THE COBALT. if you continue to argue that point, then you are indeed a complete moron. The EVO's engine puts out more power, period. you can try to talk all this theoretical bullcrap about it MIGHT do this or MIGHT do that because of the differentials, electronics, etc, but that's retarded because there are dyno graphs all over the place of stock EVO's. they have been put on dyno's, so we know exactly what they can do. I cited one source already. Import tuner dyno'ed one bone stock right at 270whp.

as for the bolded part, so what if you used the same magazine? that means NOTHING. the guy driving the EVO couldn't drive. driving an AWD car is NOT the same as a 2WD. either you can do it or you can't. as for the "good driver" arguement, yes i'm going to bring that up because i don't mag race, I LEARNED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND I RACE IT MY DAMN SELF. I saw first hand what the EVO could/couldn't do with someone who couldn't drive it. the first time i drag raced it, i ran a 13.6 as my best time. without changing anything but myself, the 3rd time i ran the car at the track i did a 12.82 (turns out that was with a boost leak that i didn't know about.) the only mods on the car at the time were a catback, and no tune, nothing else. I took the catback off for a fix-it ticket, and while i had the stocker on (still had the boost leak that i didn't know about) i went back to the track and did 12.85 in the car. both times i ran i did it with a ****ty 60' time because there was no way around the waterbox at the track.

I WILL SAY THIS AGAIN, IF YOU DRIVE AN EVO IX AT SEA LEVEL AND YOU'RE HITTING MID 13'S, YOU CAN'T DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!

The EVO IX is a 12 second car all day long with a competent driver. as for the "what if a cobalt had a good driver" arguement, that's bull**** because it doesn't take much to be a good driver in a cobalt. if you've launched one front wheel drive, you've launched them all. launching an AWD vehicle is totally different, so the mag times on the Cobalt won't be much slower IF ANY than the real world times.

I've been racing in autocross, road racing, and drag racing (legal and illegal) for about 9 years now. i know what these things can and can't do. i've driven my EVO IX for 130,000 miles so far. I think i know a little more about what the car's capable of than you. Just admit you fudged up and leave me the hell alone. the longer you continue this, the dumber you look. Go mod a damn suby or Cobalt forum and stop magazine racing.

And how much does a Cobalt put down on those exact dynos? What you're saying is pure speculation.
Where is your proof that an Evo puts down more power than a Cobalt? You write massive paragraphs yet there isn't a shred of proof in them. Your conviction is strong but your evidence is lacking. You're also missing a major point, the Evo is fundamentally more complicated than the Cobalt thus less power will make it to wheels for every HP that is produced by the engine.

There, proof.
I'm pretty sure the people driving the Evo and the Cobalt in both tests were professionals, ie. they make their livelihood driving cars. I doubt they're bad drivers, hell, I'm sure they're better than 99.9% of the people on this forum, including you and I.
Funny how you bring up the "it doesn't take much to be a good driver in a Cobalt" argument, most people would say the same about the Evo given that it has factory launch control, sticky tires and AWD.

Funny how you bring up the "it doesn't take much to be a good driver in a Cobalt" argument, most people would say the same about the Evo given that it has factory launch control, sticky tires and AWD.

that was one of the most worthless posts you've ever made. those links didn't prove anything. they don't have anything to do with what we are talking about. since you enjoy trolling so much, why don't you go troll a cobalt site and see if you can find what Cobalt SS's are putting down on dynojets. THAT would be proof. if you can find one that's putting out 260-270whp STOCK, then you have something because THAT'S WHAT EVO IX'S ARE PUTTING DOWN. how hard is that to understand? I know what the drivetrain losses are on AWD, and even AFTER the drivetrain loss, the car is STILL PUTTING DOWN 260-270whp so that's completely irrelevant.

now go find me a Cobalt SS that's putting down 260-270whp. then you will win this arguement. Until then, STFU because you're just digging yourself deeper and deeper into a whole.

Also, i don't care what people SAY about how hard it is to launch/drive AWD. YOU ARE THE BIGGEST MAG RACER I HAVE EVER SEEN. All you freakin do is talk about what somebody said, or what you saw in a mag. I'm talking about actual racing experience. I've driven/raced in honda civics, accords, Mazdaspeed3's, Cobalt SS/SC's, 350Z's, 370Z, EVO IX MR, Honda Element (don't ask), NSX, and yes, for the most part if you've launched one FWD car, you've launched them all. if you've NEVER launched an AWD vehicle, until you learn how to do it right, you're worthless behind the wheel on a drag strip, PERIOD. that's the same with ANY drivetrain. If you have ZERO experience with a particular drivetrain, until you learn how to drive it, you're going to be slow. that's just common sense. STOP MAG RACING AND TROLLING.

if the cobalt is putting down equal numbers to the EVO, it's not because of the drivetrain. it's because the car is severely underrated from the factory. a car with an actual crank output of 260 will not put out 260+ at the wheels. if it is doing that, the car is actually putting out around 300hp at the crank.

i found some dyno results, and on a dynojet the cobalt put out 240whp. EVO IX's on similar dyno's put out 260-270whp as i've stated like 100 times already. applying a 15% drivetrain loss, that would put the Cobalt SS's actual CHP at roughly 280hp. so Chevy is underrating them slightly at 260hp. Using 19% drivetrain loss, at 265whp, the car's actual output at the crank is roughly 325hp.

in summary, both motors are underrated. the drivetrain loss is irrelevant to the arguement as to which one puts more power to the wheels, because as i show you below the Cobalt SS puts down 240whp on a dynojet, and the EVO IX MR puts down 265whp on a dynojet. yes, there are variations from any dyno to any other dyno, but the point is the same. the EVO IX puts more power to the wheels than the cobalt because the damn motor puts out more power. wow, really hard concept to understand. also, those dyno numbers for the cobalt SS aren't corrected, so the actual numbers may be lower.

EVO IX MR BONE STOCK 265whp

Cobalt SS TC bone stock 240whp

For someone with so much conviction, the ignorance is startling. You cannot compare the results of one dyno to another. Unless you dyno two cars on the same dyno, on the same day, you cannot form any concrete conclusions. You could take one of those 270 WHP Evos, move down the street and suddenly it dynos 230 WHP or 210 WHP or 240 WHP.
You keep on claiming that I'm trolling, digging myself deeper, etc. yet there is so much incorrect information in your posts, it's amazing really.
So because you think that FWD cars are easy to launch, they are? How arrogant of you. Newsflash, I race my car too and I plenty of people comment that FWD cars are harder to drive in that sense because of how willingly they spin their wheels.
So because it's posted in a magazine, it's wrong? The magazines did exactly what you're asking, raced the cars but of course they don't count. Naturally this means the Nurburgring results don't count either since they're not by the mighty ODUB.
