400-500hp dd evo or sti?

SORRY that i am posting this, i know everyone hates these questions being brought up, but i just dont know what to get, i go on here everyone says evo i go on the sti page, everyone says sti, so confusing... i want a daily driver, and ive always looked into getting a evo, and then i went to looking at stis and my mind changes back and forth, honestly, i want somthing i can goof around on, and be fast at the same time, something that will make my friends surprised when they ride with me, like drifting a awd car through a corner, i dont really care about comfort, something i can pick my gf up in and drive around and what not, what do you guys think?

sti is flat out a better daily driver. evo is less likely to blow the motor though. if comfort is less priority, go with the evo.

i hear sti's have really bad handling in corners so thats one thing im worried about, but i like there bulletproof clutches, so i can just drop it and go, i also like the fact they still make accessport (i believe!!! not positive) for the sti's, i see rally cars driving sti's and i feel they are better, for some reason, but i know the evo is faster....

At that power level an STI is nothing like an Evo at the same level. You can build a very responsive Evo that makes 400-500whp but an STi will take ALOT more money and not have the powerband. We can build a pumpgas 400whp Evo on a turbo barely larger than stock where an STI takes pump/meth and will be alot more on the edge with a larger turbo (read slower spool).

i had a built 07 sti. handling is close. the evo does go around a corner better, but it also understeers into oblivion. the sti will 4 wheel drift and toss the back end out much easier. sti trans and drivetrain are also great out of the box, but as i said, the engine is less forgiving. my built motor never gave me any trouble, but a lot of guys go thru multiple engines in short periods of time.

stock heads and cams, ar fab 9.5:1 built block, .82 35r rotated kit and hydra ems. pretty simple combo. it wasnt laggy and it was a blast to drive.

strait pump gas, and pump/q16. corrected sheet was worth about 20whp more. we stopped at 28 psi because i was on stock sleeves and h beam rods.

Simple you want to get to your goal as easly and cheaply as possible. Go evo. I have had a modded subie and now an evo, I'll take the evo all day everyday. Now you will have to prep. for much more power over 400 on a stock block and keep it " reliable" for street duty.
Good luck on doing it at all with out building the block on a subie. They love destroying ring lands and have a nasty oiling issue. Cost is higher on subies too. Not that either car is Honda cheap to build.

Listen to Aaron (JohnBradley). And if you really want the accessport, they still make the accessport for the X's. But to me $600 can be spent elsewhere to make my car faster. And FWIW, the EVO 5 speed tranny isn't exactly fragile either. I say EVO.

The way I see it, pardon me N20 I dont mean to ruffle feathers, is having owned both if I had a 2.5L with 35R that spooled at 5k and was done at 7500 I would be chapped. For the amount you had into that let's compare a HTA Green car on stock motor with S2s and a Magnus on pumpgas-

If you take a similar sized motor (2.4) like Luke runs with S1s, the gains are even more intense. Here is an Evo IX with a standard rod 2.4, S2, stock intake manifold, normal suspects plus a Black, can do this-

400-500whp is easier to achieve in an Evo without the trouble of building your motor, but it's your choice.
