If we do a 1:1 on the tire makes and OEM sizes:

Porsche GT3
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
245/35/20 x2
305/30/20 x2
$1700

Evo 10
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
245/40/18 x4
$1200
it is wear and tear, wether it is tires or engines... in case of engines it is something the owner will do eventually, or it will be deducted from the value of the car come sale time... any which way you turn it, you cant spend less or same on using a car that costs 3x more to buy....

the local 997 gt3 nedeed an engine rebuilt at less than 50 K miles, although that was with heavy track use.

So how often is an engine rebuild actually needed?

**** if we're playing this stupid game, a Miata beats all.

Without considering price I would think my choice would be the 570s. I'm in market for either 570s, 650 s spyder or the new 720s. It has changed the super car playing field.

I dont think it is a stupid game.. just reality... I get people every day thinking they can have a really nice evo to beat on for 15000 USD.. well, in europe you can get one for 20K+ and that needs 10K more to be sorted...

I think price vs lap time, a sorted miata hits that sweet spot... most fun I ever had was in a factory NC Miata racer..

rebuilds... depends on use.. high level track use, 100 hours?

I also think a Miata is great if you are after a track car that is cheap to maintain but as fun as anything else. I've known many people that used them. One was turbo-charged, making 250whp. That thing lasted 7yrs, including many HPDE, Autox, weekend road trips and spirited mountain drives. He finally sold it. All the N/A ones I know of last foreeeeeeeeever. Engine rebuild? What engine rebuild?
And man.. consumables were cheeeeeeeaaaaaaaap.
